TJM Snorkel for 5th Gen?

I am still waiting for delivery. :frusty:

I called last week and they simply messed up and didn’t ship it out. Should get here soon.

I expect the compressor will not interfer. My biggest concern was the antenna and it appears there is a solution for that.

Yup the antenna fits. Just put my antenna back on. You just cut right below where the wire is and like [MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION] said, it all fits.

Also cleaned out my air box which was filthy.

Water in airbox

I did a test good testing of the snorkel. Ran a water crossing at one part the water is at least 3-4 ft high. Where there’s a big splash the water is deep and you can feel the truck float for split second.

2 things I learned at 70mMPH + 20 MPG head wind and 100degrees + F double sided sticky tape is too weak to secure the upper part of the snorkel body on the A-pillar. I will prob drill the bracket into the A-pillar using the factory supplied hardware.

got a little water in my airbox. -
1” edge of my airfilter was moist when I checked it after airing up. I followed the directions on using silicone between the snorkel body and intermediate tube. Maybe I didn’t use enough or did it incorrectly. Or maybe the intermediate tube to the inside of the fender has a leak. Also what drain holes did you guys seal if any? The bottom and front ?
Any suggestions ?
Anyone else test theirs for leaks?

So I’ve had my TJM snorkel for a week now but just haven’t had time to install it but seeing all the post today inspired me. So after work i got down and dirty with it. Installation was straight forward, just follow the instructions and you are golden. Mine is a 13 so I have the fender antenna as you can see, so I shorten the base as [MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION] described and everything works in harmony. Fitment, fit and finish is great definitely recommend it as an alternative to the ARB Snorkel. I love the sleek look to it. If you are in the socal area hit up Steve at RPM garage in Monrovia and he can get you any TJM product or anything else you may need for your 4Runner.

Not too much on my windshield. The water was as deep as the top of the PS tire.
I have 3rd person video (from rear) 100’ away .is there anyway to post it in this tread ?

I was just wondering since the snorkel has no way for water to drain out if it just splashed into the snorkels. The more traditional designs has drains at the intake but this seems to just scoop it, my thought was maybe if it splashed onto the windshield it also splashed into the snorkel

Just need some clarification guys... for the ones that had these installed, do you think the bushwhacker fenders flares will still fit? Just from looking at the pictures, it looks like there is enough space to clear fender flares with this snorkel vs the safari one.

Considering they are stick on and non functional you could have just trimmed them to fit the safari. Would still look clean. Just to play devil's advocate. :noidea:

I don't disagree. However, modifying the top portion of the fender flare is a little more difficult with the weather stripping than modifying it to fit aftermarket bumpers. It would provide a clean look either way. I also Like the TJM as it doesn't have the plastic run down the length of the outside of the fender. But, as with every modification on this forum, to each their own.
