You're supposed to weld your welding cart together as your first project!

I almost forgot how long it has been, but the 4Runner finally reached a state of smog "readiness"! That was a day or so after the previous post. It passed smog the day after. I'll make time to install that new front O2 sensor soon. I'll keep the current one should it ever be needed....
I finally made some time on getting power to the rear center console. Not much though, but everything fits and I got a first coat of paint on the outlet cover. Here drying in front of the fireplace.
Will do a second coat tomorrow...
Thanks guys. Oh, the thought crossed my mind alright. I saw several who had done so, welded-up carts. Seems like a right of passage type of thing. I gave it some serious thought.
That said, I will weld a least a couple items to this cart! A gun/torch holder and some type of horizontal rod to suspend items, like clamps. I'll be sure to share here to hopefully restore any lost credibility! :biggrin1:
Green light for emissions readiness is a great feeling. Been there a few times before. Is there a reason you wait so long between coats of paint?
Learning how to weld is on my list but haven't gotten around too it yet so I can't make jokes. I can relate to the lack of time issue. No credibility lost but the ball busting about the cart was pretty funny. That cart was a cool find though, I would totally use that thing if I welded.
Merry Christmas to you too. Just saw your build thread, you've been active!
The radio install really caught my attention. I do that type of stuff for a living. The remote faceplate really looks good in that location, great job. No need of LMR400 for that distance (IMO) we usually say LMR400 once we get over 25 feet, unless you are running super high power or just want the more robust cable. Shouldn't make any difference in your receive at all.
With regards to the power switch, I would splice your new wires to the wire on the back of the connector. Make a T. Then it can be nipped off in the future if you need to. Best would be to find the mating male connector but I assume you thought of that.
Going to go look up the specs on your radio. Looks interesting.
Happy Holidays.
I really dig the placement of your switches Tony. I'm not a fan of the "switches everywhere" that people typically do.
