So, how wide are your rims in your mind? 7 or 7 1/2?

According to The BFG and Gdyr Tire service centers, The stock L.E 20 inch rims are 7.5" wide. If I'm wrong, I'm in good company!

There seems to be a lot of off topic discussion in this thread. Regardless of how much he paid for his vehicle, it's his money and he's not telling you how to spend yours so don't tell him how to spend his. Is there any documentation either way from Toyota to show that it is a 7 inch vs 7.5 inch rim?

I just want to add that in my long quest of wheel and tire research, I had many email exchanges with Toyota and they confirmed that the rim is 7"
So unless toyota's measuring tape is off, I think it's safe to assume that you were wrongly informed by a tire shop who saw $ $ when telling your their version of "details".

Well, Now I need to "Man-Up"!!! Even though I'm not the source of this inaccurate information that I posted, provided that it is inaccurate (20 X 7J being 7 1/2"); the info that I was given came from 2 different "car care centers", just prior to purchasing a set of Gdyr Eagle LS-2, 275/55/R20's.
I do credit myself on the truthfulness of my word, and the accuracy of it's content. So I let myself down, BIG TIME. But I should have been more vigilant wrt it's accuracy, BEFORE I posted it! Therefore, I do apologize for not doing that!

To my forum team,
It seems that quite a few here, have been slightly more than interested in telling me that I am a fool for spending too much for my recently purchased, 2012 "Limited". So I thought it might be fun to post my bill of sale and the check which I used to close the deal; hopefully my scanner is behaving itself tonite. (taken down / per advice by a true team member).
P.S.: Tis' members like that, who make all of the hassle...worth it!!!
But the reason that I feel fine with this price is because:
1) I love this truck, and if I could have gotten Anything that I wanted the day that I bought the 4Runner (and I could have), this is truly the one that I would've gotten, at any price!
2) I think about the people who have paid Almost Double...for a Toyota status symbol, which underneath bares the same frame, warranty, and product quality; THEY have paid too much; and I feel that my truck is just as capable as the ones with the big ticket price tag!
3) I have, and will, continue to sink more money into this fine piece of workmanship, in mods! There's only one limit to the amount of add-ons that can be had; and that, my friend, is your imagination!
4) This is my FIRST NEW CAR, and it felt sooo good saving-up, planning, then walking to the dealership (Yes, I said walking), sitting down with the salesman and ordering exactly what I wanted! To me, that was (Almost) the best feeling in the world!!!

I dunno, I didn't think anyone was doubting your purchase, and it seemed to me that people (myself included) slowed down a bit when you started to get worked up about it. I think it's a good community here and no one really has any malicious intent - just having a little fun with each other. Not sure why you posted a bank check and a window sticker, but congratulations on you purchase, none the less. I would definitely remove the images, as I can see your name, your account number, your bank... This isn't good info for the internet. It isn't ready to handle it responsibly.

Three pages and 30+ posts, I was sure I would see resolution to the original Q. But no. Kudos to the OP for staying civil with all these unwarranted attacks. But can't understand why you would put momentum behind the derail and post personal info.
Would like to learn that the LE wheel is a 7.5...can that be addressed by post....40? Can someone put a tape measure on a bare wheel perhaps?

Idk?? Listen, if you don't understand my last post, then you just don't get it; but it's self explainatory! And as far as me "getting worked up"....I enjoy playing around as much as everybody else,
But you'll NEVER see me celebrating or enjoying another persons mis-fortune; whether it's their fault, or "The Cards"!
I know who my friends are here on this site, they are the ones that were smart enough to stay out of it, and they did stay out of it because they're good people FIRST...before being forum surfers,
or technical advisors.
Fun is fun, but some crossed the line when it became somewhat cruel, antaganistic; much like children on a playground, teasing the chubby kid, they have no compass or sense of when what's right, starts to turn wrong.
As far as your "Congrats?", it's filled with sarcasm, and you don't know me well enough to play with me like that; if we were face to face, I guaranty you wouldn't have wanted to try me! So you can keep your CONGRATS.

The reason that I was willing to post some personal info here on forum, was in hopes of trying to make light of something unwholesome, that some really small minded people (unfortunately), found entertaining.
I was hoping to just laugh at myself, along with the others and move on.
Now, I can be a really nice, easy going kind of guy...most of the time. But I hate bullies with a passion!! I'm truthfully, not the one that ANYONE should try to push around cuz I'll run straight through them like magnesium citrate with a prune juice chaser; believe that!!
But back to your other statement. you would think that with all the rims for sale around here, someone could help us resolve this mystery in no time flat.
But to be honest with you, I don't really care about that anymore, considering how much stress that some have caused, which is why I apologized for posting, questionable facts; hope that never happens again!

I appreciate what you have said, but I've been posting here almost everyday since I joined back in April (I think), and have already been "Razzed" a bit as the new guy. But what happened yesterday, believe it or not, doesn't really endear ppl as you may think.
See, this isn't really about me at all. It's about the image of this fine website.
It's about certain ones (and it's always the same ones), being unwilling to embrace the new comers'; still not talking about me.
About a week ago, there were a couple of ppl who had come here to visit the forum for the 1'st time. They had a couple of questions which they posted, only to be met by sarcasm and arrogance.
But they were humble and forgiving, but they, as visitors should NEVER have been treated that way to begin with because you don't know what they may be going through, or why they're visiting us.
Well, I P.M.ed them right away to apologize for the way that they were disrespected, and told them (like you just told me) that there are some great ppl here, and please don't stop coming around because of these fake *** representatives; they don't represent anything but their own incredible need for attention!
They all know who they are, and I really don't care if they don't like me. I'm not here to make anybody like me, I'm here to learn, and share what little I do know, just for fun; that's it!!
Thanks for sharing with me KC, and please remember to look out for those members who cannot defend themselves!

Back on topic...I'm going to go on record here and say .
From the factory.....
LE wheels are 20x7's with 4.5" BS
SR5 wheels are 17x7's with 4.5" BS
TE wheels are 17x7.5's with ? BS ...(I never actually measure BS on a TE wheel but others have reported it to be 4.5" but I haven't confirmed in person).
I had the LE wheels and cast in the back side was 20x7J. I never took a tire off a LE wheel as I traded them for SR5 wheels the first week I bought them.I still have the factory spare out in my shed out back. I did measure a SR5 wheel and it measured a 7" (measured inside flange to inside flange)and it had a 17x7J cast into the back side.
I'd bet my house on it that if I took my tire off the LE wheel that it would measure 7"s too if measured corectly! The mis info from tire shops or what not probably had to do with all 4Runner wheels being 7 1/2's for years before the 5ths .
BTW ...the "J" as discussed before stands for the type of flange the wheel has. The flange type is designated by one or two letters.From googling..... The most commonly used flange types and heights are J= .68"(17.3mm), JJ=.69"(17.5mm), JK=.71"(18mm), K =.77(19.5mm), and L = .85"(21.6mm).

True, this. One thing I always lectured on, to those who worked under me: "NEVER discuss your wage with co-workers - because afterwards one of you will come away unhappy".
I feel pretty-much the same way about discussing prices paid - for the same reason - especially on the interweb. It's pointless, really.
