For not wanting someone's opinion, you sure offer your own a lot while offering little to no value.

I was trying to be civil and offer a potential alternative backed by proven science - determine the resonance frequency and create a Helmholtz resonator at an interference wavelength. Sorry that you can only troll others when they ask for help, but can't accept an opinion that doesn't align with your preconceived notions.

Also, I believe the word you were looking for was "read" not "real". Congratulations, words are hard.

The muffler is the primary differentiation between the regular exhaust and TRD. Why not just go custom and save a bunch of money? The TRD is overpriced for what it is. I have it and it's fine, but not exceptional. I'm thinking about adding a Helmholtz resonator to mine. Typically drone isn't caused by the muffler itself, but the sound wave function leading to the muffler - which is why it's heard closer to your seat than the rear of the vehicle. The Helmholtz resonator when placed just passed the Y-pipe is a 1/4 or 1/2 wavelength oscillator, effectively offsetting and canceling the primary sound wave.

The TRD muffler already has a Helmholtz resonator integrated into it. It's a dual-pipe muffler that they're repurposed into a single pipe with a capped off chamber.

Who had the idea for adding another muffler to the muffler? Lol, I can tell why that guy doesn't like reading.

Good insight. I noticed the secondary pipe and didn’t think about it functioning as a Helmholtz. Makes me wonder how the internals look because they seemed to miss the 1/2 wavelength. I guess it’s more like a 350z design than a J-pipe I was thinking about.

It’s cool though, I wish you and your 4Runner, ole clunky, the best as you install raptor lights and try to impress folks at the next overland meet.

Swapped mine with a normal 4R exhaust from a '19 TRD Pro and couldn't be happier. The cruise control still hunts for a gear all the time on hills but at least now the loud, annoying drone is completely gone!

Let me check what's the dealer price (I'll price it accordingly, but it has 500km right now).

Depends what you are comparing it to, I've had loud exhaust on quite few cars, like STi, M3, M5 etc, compare to those, this doesn't very good because lack of bass, it's very muted raspy sound on the outside, inside, it just drones and vibrate, there's not much tone.

But again, some people may like it, but for me and the wife its not our thing.

Lol don't spend money on that junk. And it wouldn't work on cruise control anyway, which is when he specified his truck hunts for gears. The problem is that it needs more gears.

My TRD CAI has been sitting in my garage uninstalled since I bought it on the TRD40% off sale. Just got 2020 TRD OffRoad. and thinking of put-on on the TRD Exhaust with the TRD CAI. Is that the combination you have? both put on after wards? how's the performance and sound? thanks

hey I am in Brampton, if you want to swap it my 2020 TRD-Off-Road exhaust let me know. its sitting in my garage (taken off already) since last January... so basically 5k kms on it.

I have a shrockworks rear bumper and want a side exit exhaust, but I don’t want one that sits too low since the new bumper sits higher.
