So my 2015 trd pro had a squeak issue then it became a clunk new strut gets put in tomorrow but toyota will only replace drivers side not the passenger side. Feels weird to have 2 different struts?

Supply them with the TSB and see if they will change the service & replace both.
Toyota has known issues with the first shocks originally installed.
Check to see if you have the old shock number or the new ones that came on the T4R.

What is TSB? He said they called cali the yesterday and it's a known issue sending them a kit for the drivers side. Would love them to do both sides.

If you would have read back a couple of pages...... you would have found the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin)
The TSB number is: T-SB-0054-16, issued June 2 2016

Well, I don't know..... my crystal ball is not working right now, but at least you will have something to let them know you have done some research on the matter....
You could get Toyota Customer Service 1-800- involved.
let us know what happens...
I have gone in 3 times for the clunking noise, and it is only on my front driver side. Toyota is finally replacing my driver side with a new shock/part number Monday. I showed my service manager the TSB and he was only willing to replace the driver side shock due to me having after market lift kit from toytec .Which is kinda lame considering toyota has a well known awarenece of the problem on stock trds that havint been touched with a suspension upgrade. I think alot of dealerships are still shy about replacing shocks. Hoping the clunk noise does not start on the other side. Thanks for everyone that put in the hard work to solve this problem.

Well I guess the question is, did they replace the one shock with the new md number or the old numbe?
They are placing it with the new number yes.
totally man exactly what I was saying to the manger and my service representative. " well, we didn't hear the noise, but were gonna go ahead and warranty the front left shock, just because your brought in that TSB, if you didn't we would have told you we couldn't help because of your AM Kit, and the noise is probably due to a suspension upgrade you made." Thats kinda when I got angry as you can imagine, considering some TRDS are clunking at 8 miles without anything aftermarket.

So if I understand it correctly, now you have mismatched shocks, one with the old number and the new replacement with the new number?
That really makes no since, I would insist they replace the other shock.

Thanks! Forwarding this to my service department right now. I'm completely stock and want to get this done as soon as they can get the parts.
Yes my front left is 160 and the right is still going to remain at 150 the old part number, they were apprehensive and not willing to replace it since the front right is not currently making a noise.

Dealer is ordering me the replacement shocks today. Will be nice to have them replaced before it gets cold again.

Time to call Toyota 1-800-331-4331
File a complaint, they will contact the dealership and get them onboard to change the other mis-matched TSB related component!.
Seems like you are going to have to take this action to get this done....

Same here after being to the dealer 3 times they said they finally read the TSB which is only for the drivers side. I was told at the port these parts are already assembled both sides and just put into place. the dealer tried to get me that same assembly but was denied
So today all the parts came in for the drivers side let's see what happens. Now if u look under the wheel well on the drivers side you will see extra bolts holding some engine parts that don't exist on the passenger side. My strut brackets where hitting those extra bolt heads so my opinion is the strut assembly on the drivers side had to be re configured so the package got a new part number but the strut itself and spring is fine but since configuration is different u need a new one with different connections. Again my opinion. If I'm wrong and the strut itself is bad then I would hope toyota will do both sides. This all started with a squeak on drivers side.

New shocks installed!
After spending a little over 2 hours at my local dealer yesterday (DCH Toyota of Milford, MA) I have new front shocks! Dealer was very good to deal with - ordered the new shocks for me a week or so ago (based on the TSB number I provided) without question. Truck rides great (not that it didn't before) ... but the true test will happen in a couple of months (when New England temps are not in the mid 90's as they are now). I will post again after the first frost.
