Truck not starting, Starter or Battery issue?

Hello Guys,

This morning in the cold, windy, rainy weather, my 03 2wd 4runner would not start.

I drove it last night and it was fine, this morning when i tried to start it would click click click. All the dashboard lights came up fine which tells me the battery might be okay. it has 90k miles.

Do you think the starter went bad?

How can i troubleshoot?

I'd start with a battery or get a jump since that's easier.

impossible to diagnose over the net. check battery voltage/get the battery tested/etc. always start with the battery in a no-start issue. especially when the condition of the battery is unknown.

It could be the belt, i've had the same issue before on my highlander. Good Luck

This relay the sta (or starter) relay could be your problem. You can easily swap it with another of the same type in the box. This fuse box is located near the battery.

I cannot do anything till this evening since i am at work.

if there is a clicking noise when he tries to start, it isn't the relay, because obviously power is getting to the starter to make it click. either there isn't enough voltage getting there, or the starter isn't doing what it's supposed to. like i said....check the battery first.

went over to the house during lunch, it was the battery, i had the OEM panasonic battery at 90k miles, went and got a new battery..

prob resolved....
