Ultimate Scion Headunit (stereo) thread

I can't see the second picture, but yes, my unit was one of the JBL units that was straight across, like this one:

So you're saying you had a JBL-branded head unit that was recessed into the dash like a non-JBL?

Yes sir, that is exactly what i am saying! So weird that we both have 05s and the JBL stereo, yet our units and surround are different.

I am am SR5 model, wonder if that is the difference?

Very well could be, if you happen to come across a good-condition bezel for a non-JBL with 4WD, hit me up. I'd love to replace mine, but I don't want to pay $200 to an eBay salvage shop.

remember you will also need a new HVAC panel. Check out CookieRoe, i believe he made some posts about it.

thanks Yosh!

HVAC controls are different

Radio BEZELs are also different:

little suttle differences, but enough to annoy.

Don't want to pay $200? Don't worry, it's not $200, more like $360.15 new. On ebay? Good luck with that, I NEVER see them, but they occasionally pop up, BUT you have to make sure you get a non/JBL or JBL and make sure it has 4x4 or non4x4............ so yeah, patience. I have no patience so I ordered mine (long ago).

Few questions about these Scion HU's.

1) Whats the main advantage of these vs going aftermarket? Is it OEM looks or fit?

2) These ones with bluetooth, does it work with iOS streaming from Google Play Music app? I don't store any music locally on my device due to space limitations.

I have Givin up on mine

Cost, at least it was for me. That combined with OEM fitment (in most cases).

Sorry to hear that. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, mine was obnoxious as well.

How to install satellite radio w/T1819...

Just got my T1819 and after investigating cell data usage for the radio app's on my phone, I'm thinking I want to add satellite radio. The Scion part numbers I have are PT546-21070 for the fit kit and 86180-0W032 for the tuner. My question is will this work for a 4Runner install, as well, particularly the fit kit? If not, does anyone have the 4Runner part numbers? Or, should I buy one of the $50 aftermarket units? Thanks!

anyone with T10015 or T1819 in their 3rd Gen?

seems like anyone posting pics on these HUs installed in their T4R has 4th Gen or newer... will these work in an '00?

Here are my notes! The upgrade was SUPER simple and worth it! The AUX doesn't work UNLESS you do the resister mod below (after the mod the AUX works perfectly!). I'll post all the pics to my profile page after I get them off the camera.

It looks good in the truck (updates the display), sounds better (not going to blow your socks off but it IS better) and the iPod functionality is really nice to have.

Steering wheel control doesnt work help

I just recently did this install with a t10015 to a 2008 4runner. Everything on the unit works. The only things that don't work are the steering controls for volume, station change, mode and usb/aux doesn't work. Any suggestions would help a lot. Thanks.
