So much awesome. It's the perfect height too, not too huge but plenty capable. Great job!
Thanks! It came out just a bit taller than I wanted. I am at 23.25" frame height at the body mount in front of the front door. The panhard axle mount kinda forced things up a notch. If I was doing over I would rethink that.
Thanks again! I've been following your 'Adventures' and congrats on the State Patrol. Please do not pull me over and have sympathy on the trail rigs with no mud flaps, failed smogs, and busted taillights.
So, the build details are light but did you do the conversion yourself? All the welding? All the fab?
If so.... :hail:
Regardless, I'm envious. You threw us a bone with the pictures of the build/break in run... I'm looking forward to the whole enchilada as time goes on and we get to see more of the rig.
Lastly, I think your signature has to go....
That's not working any more... as far as I can see your 4Runner got quite a bit MORE flexibility this year, not to mention attitude.
Edit... this thread had no stars, so I gave it 5.
Thanks. I am no BFAD on the write-ups. I was proud of myself for dropping 25 build-photos in there. That's a years worth for me. A detailed write-up on a 3 month project would read like 'War & Peace'. But I have shamelessly benefited from your write-ups over the years and thank you again. I have more photos but many are redundant. I have a few more of the link setup which I will add shortly.
This was a massive project and I gathered information and help from everywhere I could get it. Roll the credits:
These threads were essentially the inspiration:

Along with the T4R guys who came before. Dous was helpful with pics and even made my brake lines. I think it is cool that everybody's build has a different spin on the swap.
I've done the vast majority of the work on my truck. Always have and will. That being said, I am no automotive genius and need help. I could not have done this project without the help from ACC
ACC Toyota Lexus and Land Cruiser | FULL SERVICE AND MODIFICATIONS FOR YOUR TOYOTA AND LEXUS
They are essentially Land Cruiser guys but know a Toyota axle inside and out. Seriously, could not have done it without them. They solved countless problems, had great ideas, and had it aligned with an eyeball and a tape measure. I have had no experience with birfields, or knuckles, or hi-steer. Not things I want to 'take a stab at'; especially at the expense of my passengers, family, friends etc.
I tried to take advantage of pre-fabricated parts when available. I thought this would save time. Didn't always work that way. Nevertheless, several of the pre-fab parts saved me countless days. Crossmember, link mounts, strut towers, all pre-fab. I am a good welder. Not great. The difference between good and great is the ability to generate beautiful welds out of position. Like upside down, overhead and with molten metal finding its way into your glove, or under your helmet. I have scars to prove it.
Ha. Yeah the signature doesn't necessarily fit anymore. I think it gained flexibility but lost some versatility. I hope I am not on a slippery slope now. I agree, I will work on a new sig.
