Warranty Coverage for Chipped Windshield

I bought my 5th Gen 4runner exactly a week ago. Today, when I got home from a road trip, I noticed a large chip on my front windshield. I swear, I did not hear anything hit my windshield at all during the drive. Does anyone know if the warranty will cover this? Could this be a manufacturing defect? I mean- My 4runner has less than 600 miles and is less than a week old.

No. They won't do anything but refer you to a glass company. Just save yourself the trouble and get the chip fixed before it spreads. Can cost as much as $40 or free depending on insurance. Either way is cheaper than a new windshield.

I know in my state the windshield is replaced for free, if the crack/chip is big enough, under your insurance. If not they still will pay to have it 'sealed' for free, check into your policy.

i don't think it will be covered. you usually have about 24-48 hours to notice any defects after delivery. if you don't have glass coverage, you can claim this under comp coverage which should be a low enough deductible to cover a new windshield if it's needed.

Check with your insurance carrier, if you have comprehensive (collision/fire/theft) you should have glass coverage to some degree as well. I have State Farm and I have full glass coverage without any deductible.
