Yeah, I've been sitting on a roll of this B-Quiet sound deadening materials - B-Quiet Ultimate - Better than Dynamat!! brownbread for about 5 months now. I'm waiting till it warms up some to install. I'm gonna order the HLiner for the hood and a couple more rolls of this stuff for all the doors and parts of the floor.

Just installed the kappas over the weekend. Definitely a big difference, especially when cranked up! I made the mistake of answering a call via bluetooth without adjusting the volume first, I nearly jumped from my seat when the person on the other line spoke. I had to turn it down to level 3 or 4. I did end up trimming some of the platic under the passenger side speaker, then read this morning that I proabably shouldn't have, hope it doesn't cause any problems later. I think I hear the passenger side crossover sliding around in the dash when I make turns, looks like I may have to get fancy with some electrical tape. Thanks for the write-ups on here! Never would have even tried this without your help.

I received my speakers in the mail. I understand there are four wires behind the OEM speakers that I have to separate and use two as + and two as -. My question is how will I identify which colors go together and which ones are positive and which are negative?

* The light green and pink wire are negative on both sides.

* The other two colors:
left side = violet + blue = positive
right side = yellow + blue = positive.

I have a limited with the JBL and I read this:

Hey man- just installed the kappas into my 2011 LE. I used the crossover dongle on the speakers and tucked them under the dash . My wire colors differed from those listed on this thread. I cut off the factory harness on both sides of the truck and wired the 2 wires on each side directly to the kappa crossover. My wiring: FL+green FL-blue FR+pink FR-yellow

UPDATE -

I removed my driver's side JBL speaker and this is what I discovered:

Looks like the colors do in fact differ on the JBL system. I only have two wires coming out of the harness from the dash, but other wires seem to be attached to the speaker.

Got my Infinities on Friday. Installed them on Saturday. Man they do sound awesome. Took me about an hour. Wanted to thank reklov for the idea of the mending braces. Worked perfectly! Probably would have never done this if it wasn't for all of you for the great ideas. Much happier now with the sound.:hatsoff:

Got my speakers installed. They sound great.

FYI I cut apart a thick sock and taped the material around the crossovers to ensure they don't rattle or vibrate in the dash.

I guess you figured out the wiring then....We have the wiring diagrams online here.

On the Limited's with JBL ,green is pos and blue is neg .
No. 1 speakers are the dash and no.2 speakers are the doors.
Ya, I just stuffed a bunch of foam insulation all around around mine with the crossover in them. One of the most instantly noticeable, easy and fairly cheap mods out for the 5ths.

Overall I'm happy with the speakers, but I noticed they are a bit softer than the OEM ones. After the driver's side kappa was in I turned on the radio to compare the Infinity vs. Stock JBL, and the JBL seemed a slightly louder. The rear door speakers are more noticeable with both kappas installed. To compensate I now have the fader forward just a tad. Perhaps this is unique to those with the JBL amp?

Just did the Kappa install in the dash, wow what a difference !! I also put a 300mfd cap on them to cut the bass below 100 hz, makes a big difference.
I might put a 200mfd and it will make it 200ht bass cut off.I just ordered the matching Kappa's for the rear hatch 62.9i 6". Might even add a custom JL Sub box later.

Newbie ti installs, do you hook anything up to the crossover? do you put on some type of connecters to the two wires you twisted together. One connecter for the two positive wires and one connecter to the two negative wires? Lastly what is the verdict on the passenger side..trim speaker, trim plastic which might be the duct or try to jam/wiggle it in with some force? Thx for help

If you install the Kappas, don't forget to put Bass Blockers in line with the Pos+ terminal, I used 150hz @ 4 ohm and they work perfect. Otherwise you will have to turn the bass down -4db to keep woofer from popping when it tries to reproduce a bass note that it was not designed for at higher volume levels like more than half volume.I have a SR5 with 8 speaker system, USB, Bluetooth. Sounds awesome !!
BTW, my whole stereo dead ( No Sound) found one of the wires came loose were I screwed them into X over so when I installed Bass Blockers I soldered everything so It won't happen again.It did it as soon as I hit the Party Mode Button !! Now I can turn the Bass to 0db and it plays loud and clear !!

I thought the crossovers were supposed to handle this. I have the JBL setup and I never noticed much movement in the woofers.

Can't speak for the SR5 or non JBL but pretty sure the JBL systems are different and the JBL amp has built in crossovers. Bass only goes to my front door speakers that are woofers and not to the dash speakers in the front in my Limited.

Still not sure on how all the wiring works, x over, bass blocker, into the speakers, etc....sorry, never messed around with stereos in cars but I like this MOD..

Also still wondering about the cut out on the passenger side.

I did not have to trim anything on driver or passenger side, the duct underneath is very thin and flexible and I just worked speaker into place and fastened it down. I would strip wires back and either crimp then into a solderless connector or solder them like I did.Bass Blockers go inline with the + speaker terminal.Very simple install.Here is a link to the bass Blockers, If you look at the factory speaker you removed it has a bass blocker (Capicator)
installed on it. Link to Bass Blocker, order them when you order the speakers, most dealers carry them !!

I too installed the kappa's last week and thought all was well. I did not have a problem while listening to the radio but as soon I threw in a cd and cranked the volume just a bit the popping started. First the left and then the right speaker. I thought for sure there was some defect to the speakers. So Bzizzi is correct, I guess we need the bass blockers. I only wish I had known this sooner. I will simply order them from the Crutchfield link that was left in the earlier post.
**update** the 150hz blockers are out of stock. However they have the 300hz available. I'm wondering if those will be ok to use. I would think the answer is yes but am not 100% sure.
