Built in some tie downs for a kind of ice chest slide out.

Very COOL idea! May I ask, how did you support the back side of the tie downs? I've read on here that the actual sliding tray is made out of some high density foam board?

This is the thing that bugs me the most about my stupid sliding tray, no factory tie downs :nono:

Each tie down "kit" comes with a backing plate in the same diameter. The slide out is disappointingly foam but appears to be somewhat sturdy.

The main reason for putting them In was to keep my 54qt ice chest from sliding around while being able to slide out the tray. I don't think I would trust these things to hold down big heavy items.

took my cousin out to get his pretty new 2013 limited to get dirty. carnage, two bent running boards, 1 cracked front bumper, and 1 bent up bull bar. Winch worked great though, we used it to pull my butt out of a deep wash out

You mean they won't hold the rated 1,000 lbs??!?! j/k, thanks for the clarification, I definitely want to add some tie down points on the tray itself (so I can strap the spider net to that instead of the factory tie down points NOT on the tray). Such a pain in the butt to unstrap the net before you slide out the tray, kind of defeats the purpose. First world problems, lol.

New Gobi

A little late but I ran over to Gobi on Saturday since my rack was ready. I'm kicking myself for not bringing the lights with me but oh well, lesson learned. I'll have to pull the rack back off to wire the SR lights. But anywho, here is what I walked into in their office (ya know, for all those people that think that Gobi never responds do you) and lastly, my rack.

Wired the roof rack...

Ran the wires similar to [MENTION=55815]Okki[/MENTION] and drilled holes in the rack and wired.



Also re-did my auxiliary wiring - replaced the Blue Sea fusebox with a Painless 7. Re-wiring/cleaning everything up was the biggest pain - changing over the fuse box was simple. Also added USB and Cigarette Lighter chargers for the 2nd row that are on a switch.

And finally...got the FN BFD's installed on the 2014 GX

Not completed yet due to minor hiccups...BUT have since been advised of further installation steps that were not self explanatory, lol. The battery placement seems pretty good so far though! Will report back once I am completely finished
