Did my first Toyota oil change. Was to my wife's 2014 4Runner Limited. It has 23k miles on it and I'd prefer to do the routine maintenance from now on.

Changed the oil with some Mobil 1 0w-20 Advanced Fuel Economy, replaced OEM oil filter with a K&N filter cartridge, replaced air filter with an OEM unit and rotated the tires.

I set the maintenance app to 8k miles for next oil change. Do you guys think this is too long?

I'm sure there are threads that discuss this in depth, but the recommended the oil change interval is 10k. If you think you're exposed to conditions that might warrant an oil change sooner, or if you believe a change at 8k affords greater protection, then 8k might make sense (dusty conditions, lots of idling, many short trips). I can't say what is right for you, but you're 2,000 miles under the recommended interval so you likely have plenty of life in the oil yet.

Finally installed the TRD CAI today. My existing K&N panel filter has 30k on it since I installed it and it's never been cleaned. I decided to reuse it as is & I might actually clean it in 20k. We'll see. I ran out of electrical tape so the MAFS wires are showing. Some day I'll get around to wrapping them as well.

Don't use electrical tape to wrap wires. The adhesive just melts when it gets hot and makes a huge mess. Use wire loom or high temp tape and save some headaches later.

Thanks, I've ran them on my all my previous rigs. I love that they are quiet, look aggressive and preform pretty good, even though Ibdo have to be a little cautious in wet conditions.lol

Yes, living in Seattle I realized quickly that I needed to sipe them. I had the pair of center lugs siped and it worked like a charm.

Headed out to Red Rock Canyon. With rain in the forecast I saw an opportunity to paint the truck with some red mud accents, as it really "pops" against the blue backdrop. The wife saw an opportunity to photograph the majestic scenery in a rare wet n stormy state...either way, I got to break free of pavement for a bit, so win-win!

In a great portent of things to come, the baby was kicking like Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in a bar fight once we came off the trail! That, combined with him throwing a "4" in his ultrasound pics yesterday (sucking his thumb?? I don't think so, med tech!) makes me believe I've got an off-roading partner joining me soon! Woohoo, can't wait!!

That blue looks so good. Makes me wish I would have searched a little harder for that color. Nice job on the detail.

Ran the ARB fridge wiring kit from the stock battery to the passenger side firewall grommet, then through the grommet, then followed the stock wiring under the kick plates, through the second door weatherstripping gap to te rear wheelwell, and stopped. Installed a terminal block. Drilled a hole for the voltmeter display and Installed voltimeter. Had already modified stock 12V cigarette lighter outlet to accept fatter quick connect wires. And brute force method opened the passenger rear wheel well area.

I am excited with the outcome and can't wait to put my fridge in and not worry about power getting to it!!! (For the record a dual battery setup is on the way shortly)
