What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

It was 4runner day for me.

Started the day by trying to fix the clunk in the front suspension, so I figure while I have the vehicle on stands, to raise it back to 3 inches. I had issues with the front end sagging due to the added weight of the bumper and winch. After that, I decided to fix my alignment issues that have been plaguing the 4runner for a while, so I took it in for an alignment. The alignment fixed my steering pulling issues, but I still had the front end clunk, so out of sheer fustration, I took all my fustration out on the 4runner by taking it to a DIY car wash and detailing it by hand. At least it will look good, drive okay for commuting, and tire myself out. I also got those poser yellow plastic things for the d-shackles, so it won't destroy the powdercoat on my bumper. I also redid all my electrical wiring (for the lights and ARB compressor) and modified a RCI filler plate to work with the SSO slimline bumper and RCI skid plates (so now I have full radiator protection)........yeah, a long day.

All and All not a terrible way of spending the day. Fixing all the stuff that I broke. I still cant take it offroading, but at least its driveable for commuting. Next thing on my too do list is to fiberglass the exposed body welds near the body mounts in the front fender area, I"m just OCD like that (I can't stand it after the BMC, I rather patch that area up). Baby steps....

What light bar and mount is in your upper grill? Looks great I’d like to that and ditch lights.

Your wish is my command:

I picked these products because: I'm a cheapskate, the products have to work, and do not require modifications to the bodywork or drilling. I also had to stay legal with johnny Law around here.

1. upper grill light bar:

This light bar fits with no modifications to the upper grill and allows you to put your engine splash guard back on. It utilizes the same holes in the upper grill area so no drilling is required. You utilize the light bar mount that comes with the kit (the low profile mounts). Only thing you need to do is run to home depot and find 2 nuts/washer/bolts. Light output isn't that great. Its about as good as your high beams are, mainly because the OEM grill is in the way. I use them as Fck You lights. You can put 30 inch light bars in that area, but will require you to drill. I didn't want to do that. This looks almost OEM because of how it installs and how its hidden behind the grill.

2. Ditch bracket:

I'm running low profile SDhQ brackets. You have to run low profile brackets either from SDhQ or cali raised or whoever, if you want to run big a$$ ditch lights. Do not buy standard ditch brackets, they sit too high.

3. Ditch lights:

I was running generic square pods like everybody else, and they were a joke. I wanted useable light so it was either pony up for some stupidly expensive brand name lights or go with the biggest lights i can find. I found this size worked the best. I tried 6 inch to 9 inch lights, and they were way to big and too heavy (it will bend the mounts). These were the perfect size. These are insanely bright, since they are mainly a spotlight. They overpower pretty much everything on my vehicle. I'm considering getting rid of my roof mounted light bar because of this and the grill light bar combo. Also, the light covers are pretty neat. You can get em with either a red accent or black accent.

4. Wiring harness

You will have to buy a wiring harness for these on amazon. Just remember the ditch lights require a 2 lead wiring harness, and the light bar requires a one lead wiring harness. Installation was easy.

you running uniball/heim uppers? Have you checked for play/loosness in the lower spherical bearing on the King eyelet? with truck on the ground Id grab the UCA and rock it back and forth and see if you hear any funny noises coming from the uniball. worked like a charm on my titan.

thanks for the advice. Thats what I'm going to do next weekend. I took off my A-arm skids, so when i crawl back under there to reinstall those, I"m going to do just that. I swear i think the lower shock mount is moving (as in, the shock mount/eyelet is moving in relation to how it sits in the LCA mount), I'm taking pictures every time i drive, to compare.

I've ruled out pretty much everything else. It isn't the uppers, I spent a day inspecting, regreasing, and lubing the TC uppers. I initially thought it was the UCA but quickly ruled that out.

If it happens to be the lower shock mount bearings, is the only way to fix it is to replace it???

Inno Fishing Rod Holder

Haven't seen many posts on the Inno racks, especially if you don't have third-row handles. Used the second-row handles and it works great. A nine-foot fly rod hits the window and bends a little but not bad. You can also break them down, it holds several pieces, as seen in photo.

Here is a link to the company website. ROD HOLDER | FISHING | inno Roof carrier & Roof box

yea it's just a spherical bearing, king would have the rebuild kit numbers. I think Borfoo in his thread had a good point to check for forward and rearward movement in the LCA's as well. I could do that with a long prybar on my titan. arm moved a little, figured that was a cause of noise, notched some delrin donuts and popped them in without disassembly of anything lol...someone more knowledgeable would know, i wonder if a little movement is normal for those shock mounts and the lower a arms as well?

assuming those spherical bearings play the same rules as the big ones in UCA's, if you can wiggle it around without any extra leverage via the bolt or a screwdriver i'm betting it needs replacing. those are supposed to be super tight

PRGproducts.com is now making Delrin bushings for the toyotas LCA's too, it wasn't on his site yesterday but if you get a hold of him or check his Instagram you can see pics.

Got my skid powdercoated and put on finally! Thanks to LFD Offroad and jafrush
