What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Oil change and cleaned the aFe filter. Started taking some measurements on the rear to build a different sleep platform/drawer system. Sold my hard shell rtt to fund my move to 34’s and UCA’s. My plans change so fast with this thing haha. Least I made some money!

I got to look at a picture of my TRD skid plate sitting in my garage in PA while I'm working in Seattle :nono:

i just put mines on. let me know if you ran into a problem with the 2 supplied bolts for the rear. I had to reused the current bolts because the ones toyota sent were too long. (bottom=sent along with skid plate, top=current) anyone else had that issue?

You have to chase the threads in the bolt-holes to use the new bolts. I'm gonna pick up one of these, it would have really come in handy for my slider install, too.

Installed these net pockets off of eBay by the front seats. Been useful for random papers and wife’s random stuff.

Absolutely chase the threads for all. It is paint from the factory frame painting. Then anti seize. Older 4Rs paint and crud

Otherwise stripping of the female threads can easily happen

Someone please help

I tried to create a new thread but I'm not sure how to I'm hoping someone is able to help me. I have a 2016 4runner trail edition. My speakers were working fine yesterday, I wasn't playing them loud but some how the speakers are now not producing any sound. The head unit is operating normally it's just no sound. I've tried swapping the fuse out with a spare and still no luck. I went to the dealership and there hasn't been any software updates performed what so ever on this vehicle. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know I really appreciate it.

I have wanted to do a variation on this. My version is run an entirely new wire from amp to door speaker. Then solder the two original speaker wires together inside the door, thus putting them in parallel rather than series. This would reduce the load and allow more wattage from amp to all rear speakers. Unless I have this wrong?

My speakers aren't working are you able to help me

Installed TRD skid plate and TRD cold-air intake.

Stripped the small amount of surface rust off the replacement trans crossmember and gave it some fresh paint/primer.

Took delivery of the new support arm.

Prob throw the crossmember in tomorrow.

RCI skids are shipping out next week. Just in time for 20k service. Prob go pick up fluids tomorrow/Monday. That will be next weekends project.

Got rid of my factory roof rack with the LFD Off-road crossbars and installed the full-length Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform with the backbone system. Love how low-profile it is and I think it looks amazing! Next I will be trying to figure out how to attach the Front Runner quick release mounts for my roof top tent. I will post pictures of the process since I haven't found anything on this subject! View attachment 362550

I've heard that the Rhino rack causes lots of wind noise. Any feedback/thoughts?

Replaced OE dash tweeters...

with Infinity Reference REF-3032CFX. Been reading up on upgrades here and it seemed to me this was the most cost-effective way to improve sound in my 2019 SR5P (non-JBL). Very happy with the results; doesn't sound like like some of the mid to upper frequencies are missing as with the OE tweeters.

Did you use bass blockers? They will pop at louder volumes without some filtering. The speakers do make a huge difference though.

I just used the shorter bolts that were already on the 4Runner. Unlike my '10 that did not have the 4 galvanized bolts installed and where I had to chase the threads, the '20 came with all 4 bolts installed even though they were not holding anything in place. Maybe that's how Toyota makes sure the nut threads are clean after welding. The only difference is length and the shorter ones still extend sufficiently beyond the nut, so no functional concern.

I thought I would stay with black, but after seeing a few cement Tacoma's on gunmetal Ray10's, that made the decision easier......Still getting accustomed to the color change though...

Those look much better! I am so tired of black wheels, blacked-out emblems, etc. and am enjoying seeing wheels in gunmetal, bronze, etc. Even with my factory ORP wheels, I wish they had left the recessed areas either aluminum or used silver or gunmetal paint vs. the black.
