Locker ON indicator's final decision, finally.

Wanted gauge cluster indicators 01-02's use those open spots, what I came up with.
LandCruiser switch doesn't allow front locked only for dig's, circuit to allow this other half of this project.
After wheeling since June 20 as is, front dig option be useful.

Found out that the old diff drop skid spacers were not enough to help it clear the diff mounts. Barely had enough of a cutting wheel left, but we got the little bit more the skid needed to clear figured out!

Also, found out that I should've changed the diff seals with the CV axles; the passenger side has a slight leak.

That is a little kit I picked up through a holiday sale at Opt Off Road a couple months ago. Pretty sure it's a product put together and sold by the young dude in the YT install video below. It basically tells you how to build your own, but a combination of crushing laziness and desire to support the young players, I bought it. I don't think Scarab has a sales site or reseller other than Opt but you can find him on IG @scarab.offroad

Installed ditch light brackets. Installed blue sea auxillary fuse box in preparation for the ditch light install. Gotta clean up all the existing wires first though...That's for another day though.

I finally got tired of my warped rotors. I also added speed bleeders. Night and day difference in stopping power. I've got an 02' and do not have the soft/extended travel brake pedal feel. I did bleed the system twice, the first using the traditional method and the last using Toyota Techstream to engage the brake booster electronically. Stops on a dime!

is that a TBU, cant tell from pictures. Also since the 2001 and 2002 is new to me, do you need a program to bleed the brakes ?

edit: watched MTBTM video on brake bleeding a 2002, he does not use a program so guess i dont need one.

Man, don't worry too much about not building your own. I looked into putting one together myself, and to get the quality/brightness of the LEDs he's using would cost almost as much as the kit! I'm a little jealous though. My lady told me not to buy anything for my truck before the holidays, and he sold out. So now I'm waiting for them to come back in stock to snatch one. Got some pretty sweet Spiker hood struts though. They make me grin every time i open my hood.

Pulled my front pads of my brakes, applied anti-squeal, and greases the pins/contact points.

Don't worry, I have been a mechanic for a long time and yes there are a few spots that do need grease (lightly) on brakes to allow them to work freely.

I know this is super old, but what part do you grease, is that the contact points between the pads & calipers? Trying to do some maintenance on the 2000 I recently bought, plan on looking at brakes cause the brake light usually stays on even when I take off the parking brake.

Also, is there a specific kind of grease I should get?

Just to clarify, you aren’t low on brake fluid, right? That will also illuminate the brake light even when the parking brake is disengaged.

It is the TBU. I read that the extended or spongy brake feel can be caused by air trapped in the ABS module on 01/02s. The only way to fix the issue is to engage the ABS either by stomping on the brakes or using Techstream. I just want to do it right the first time because it's 30F where I live and it sucks working in the weather. I have access to Techstream so I used it. Techstream actually allowed the brake pedal to drop further to the floor than I could with my foot, so I'm going to assume it did a marginally better job at bleeding the system. Sure feels like it!

Don't think so, checked it not too far back but I'll check it agian. I've done brake pads a bunch of times and never heard about greasing any of the parts so I was just curious what that's about.

Thanks! Yes, I studied that thread a few times before deciding to go with a frame swap vs repair. It will be done at a shop with a big lift, so it should go pretty smoothly. The shop owner has done frame swaps before (Tundra, Jeep).

My current frame is nowhere near as bad as TheDurk's was before his swap. (I'll post photos in the upcoming build thread).

However, rust is a pretty big issue in my area, and since the rest of the truck is super nice, it's only got 200k miles, and since I don't wheel hard or really even drive much now that I work from home, I figure a full frame swap with POR-15 will give this truck a very long life.
