New hard brake lines for the front (both sides) after the (original) passenger-side hard line busted on a brutal shot from a pothole.
Part numbers are:
4731435330 (passenger side)
4731635250 (driver's side)
Parts were about $16 each from my local stealer. Got them next day via "Special Purpose Order."
Also installed and used a pair of Speed Bleeders. Speed Bleeder Part number is: SB1010. The Speed Bleeder nuts are not metric, they are: 7/16.
Takeaways:
- Job's a little messy since brake fluid tends to end up all over the place. Brake fluid is very slippery!
- Had to use the butane micro torch on the driver's side upper nut. Kept a spray bottle of water handy for a hot/cold treatment and to reduce the risk of the brake fluid catching on fire.
- Was definitely worth it to do both sides at the same time; the driver-side line was bent at the caliper nut in the same way the passenger side was. It just hadn't busted yet.
- It's good to have plenty of brake fluid handy; I probably went through a quart or so during the entire process. Much of that leaked out overnight while I was awaiting the parts.
- The Timmy video was a helpful learning aid. The silicone plugs and fuel tubing are essential.
- If you don't have enough brake fluid in the reservoir, the red "Brake!" light will come on; fill up the reservoir to max and the light will turn off.
