What did you do with your 4runner today?

moved the mirror up as far as possible and it make a big difference in visibility for us tall people.

then i dot to thinking how my truck would sound with a cold air intake. not going to leave the air box like this because of heat but it sound amazing. makes me want a cold air intake.

when i did mine i only put one screw back in and its holding fine. i removed the others as i could not trim them well. the way i did it was pushed them as far forward in the little screw anchors or what ever you want to call them and then trimmed the fender liners more so that they would fit further into the screw anchor then used a punch and stabbed new holes and put the screw back in. if you want i can take pictures

Damn, I've been looking to move my mirror. Now I read this and figure it must be REALLY easy. Yep, just a little force moves the pivot on the block that attaches to the windsheild and gets it moved up to the headliner.

We did that to a guys VW bug back in my younger years. We put it between 2 telephone poles. He was able to drive it out after going back and forth a bunch of times.
He was the head cook and a real jerk. We were just high school kids working after school.

Man, those were fun times.

Just got the replacement control arm from Rockauto. Its the wrong one again.


Edit: Just talked to someone at Rockauto. I bought a different control arm (Mevotech instead of Raybestos) to make sure I get the right ones this time, I hope anyway. They were only $10 more and Rockauto will ship them over night.

Those older VW Bugs are not very heavy, yes we physically moved it.

Thanks for posting this, I did this in my 03 but forgot about it and never tried it in my 08.

Had new OE LCAs installed yesterday with an alignment hitting 3.5 caster. Man, it drives like a new rig now !! I can't believe how smooth it rides now that the BJs and bushings are solid, kinda scary actually.

I used a local Midas, labor was 3 hours plus $99 alignment. I included new bolts and cams so they could heat/cut the siezed alignment sleeves.

Got a new bike rack on the back of it. It's the new black Kuat NV, it's quite the upgrade from the Thule T2 I had.
