been trying to fix my t4r past few days in regards to the check engine light. I believe I got 1 more error code left. P2238.
- I've replaced both the upstream o2 sensors and the passenger side downstream o2 sensor (Denso).
- Replaced the MAF sensor.
- Replaced EFI Relay Fuse and the Power Relay Fuse.
at a lost on what to do cause I can't past inspections.
2004 t4r v6 sr5 w/ 250k+ mileage (odometer fraud)

It's been a while since I've done anything to it really. But it's time for some refreshing...Got a few things done and a few big things in the works.

-Changed front diff fluid with Redline HD Shockproof 75w90
-Changed diff Fill and Drain plugs to the Lexus Parts with nuts on them so you don't have to strip the plug and fill every time.
-Installed Desertdoesit Seat Jackers. AMAZING difference. Highly recommended if you do long trips.
In the plans-
-Changing JBA UCA Bushings and Ball Joints after 50k of hard miles (They started squeaking bad)
-Getting New Bigger Tires 255/85R17 35x10x17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's

Finally upgraded from Michelin xlt a/s in 265/65/17 to Yokohama Geolandar A/Ts in 255/75/17. So far I love them. Even driving on dry pavement is a huge difference, I can feel the grip (and the Michelins are still at 10/32 tread so it's not just new vs old tire comparison) and somehow even my mild driveshaft play seems to be gone... No idea how that could be physically possible. May post a thread about it to try and figure it out because it's really confusing me.

Added a Spartan rear locker. Pretty straightforward install, just got to make sure to mark bearing caps and all so you get the backlash correct.
Drove it around for a bit and it did make some noise for the first couple minutes but after some time the noise was reduced. Im not hating it yet. We shall see after some more driving around town. With windows up, you cant hear it.
Gonna take it wheeling on Sat to see how it performs.
Used 75w110, might use 75w140 to see if it helps with the clicking.
Also, shout out to Mobil 1 Delvac gear oil. My rear diff oil came out golden color even after all that its been through. Let see if the Amsoil does the same.

Yeah. I was thinking a thicker oil would quiet it down some. Not a big deal though. Gonna try some Lucas 85w140, like what ECGS recommends. I feel kind of bad since I just put like $80 worth of Amsoil severe gear in it lol.

I wish there were OEM buttons you could install to control both front and rear lockers. Bought a Limited but it has lots of blanks!
I had a vehicle with AWD+viscous coupler (95 Grand Cherokee, in-line 6 with a NV249) and despite not having lockers performed BEAUTIFULLY in wet conditions off road, snow. I didn’t even have mud tires. I did up size to a 30x9.5r15 in a Michelin LTX m/s 2.
Gonna wear these factory Geolandars down on my Nightshade and swap up to a 275/55R20 BFG

Installed the aftermarket blower motor from Rock Auto. Since mine is a '03 I had to dremel some spots similar to this post https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3413185-post8.html
Couldn't find the cabin filter bracket, might have thrown it out with the old filter when I started taking stuff apart a few years ago :noidea: Surprisingly you can buy the OEM filter and bracket together for about $2 more than just the filter itself, part # 88508-20120 "Filter Sub-Assembly, Clean Air"

Wow thats cool! Super neat spot. Hows your MPGs with those tires? I’d love to go bigger like that but I’m also emotionally attached to the 20mpg i’m getting with the size I’ve got now.

What are MPGs? Lol jk. I haven't actually calculated my mpgs in a while. It's not great with all the stuff I have added. Ever since work from home I don't drive as much so MPGs is not a concern.

Ah well if you find out let me know. I have an hour-ish commute to the office and then an hour-ish home every day. Works out to about 86 miles if I don’t stop for gas or the store. I was driving a Tahoe and its friggen sweet but 14.7 mpg was all it had in it. 4runners better (though nowhere near as fast or as comfortable) but it costs $15-20 less to fill up and it goes about an extra day or two if I really stretch it. I don’t think bumping from 265/70/17 to 275/70/17 (or maybe even 285) would hurt anything if they’re not much heavier but its hard to say because Toyotas are a but more sophisticated than GM. VVTi etc.

Thanks, I just ordered the clips from your link.Today I replaced the 11 fasteners like the ones circled in the pic. They hold the black plastic cover just forward of the radiator. Most of mine were loose or missing, and these from Amazon are a perfect fit. They’re also used elsewhere on the 4R so having some spares will be handy.
Tip: the 2 holes these fit in at the bottom left & right of the piece seem smaller than the others and I found the easiest thing to do was back the screw-like part out all the way, insert the receptacle into the holes, then put the screw thing in.
I also followed up on our recent Outer Banks trip by removing the skids and doing a complete underbody wash with Simple Green (through a soap nozzle) and pressure-washer rinse. Found we had brought a little bit of the South Core Banks home with us. ;-)
Finally, I wire-brushed some surface rust off the skids and painted them with Rust Reformer.
