What is the fastest speed you ever got?

uuummmm.......I'm glad I don't live around you.

I'm no grandpa at the wheel but I also don't go regularly racing people at over 100mph in a truck. Sounds dangerous for alot of people, not just yourself. One avoidance maneuver in that truck at those speeds and you are toast.

Let me explain , so you can feel a bit safer if there are others like me who have occasionally floored it on an open freeway in a testosterone induced frenzy. "Too many times" is what I mean by saying 3 times total (to the limiter) and once should have been enough. (since the lift, I won't drive over 90, if that.)

The times I did hit the governor I could count the number of cars in a 1 mile radius from me on one hand. This would NEVER be attempted on a busy freeway, involving ANY lane changes, or on a freeway I did not know every inch of from driving for 12 years. Yes, I do like seeing how the Runner stacks up against various vehicles on the road in real driving conditions. Not going to lie.

That being said, my #1 rule of driving is one that "you can do everything RIGHT, it's the other guy you can't count on". i.e Defensive driving.

None of this validates driving fast - but then again accidents can happen anywhere, I feel safer goinng 100mph in my 4runner than I do driving with most people at 65mph. Thanks.

My testoserone kicked in yesterday when a 530i wanted to see who has more power. We only went up to 60. We were nose to nose. This truck has great power. I was impressed and the guy in the 530 was impressed!

yeah I was on the losing end yesterday I look over this black BMW that pulls up to me SUPER fast and we stop at the light. WE both hit it to about 55 from a stop at the light. I stayed with the BMW (nose to nose) until about 35-then when it shifted he was gone...only then did I realize I was racing a new 6-series!

I got smoked.

Those new 6 series are fast. I am surprised you were able to keep up until 35. Then again, they say 4Runners are not designed for racing! :

What about a 4runner with a bored out block, supercharger, headers, x-pipe, exhaust, throttle body, fuel rail, chip, torque converter, reinforced cam shaft, and a nos kit? Someone in this forum with $ needs to take one for the team and make this "sleeper" 4runner that i'm describing, rather than spending all that money on a lift kit and such. :zoom:

Well, I live in LA, so the fastest speed I've ever gotten is on my commute to work on the freeway.... 32 mph. Oh yeah, baby!!

Ok, actually, I've hit around 92 or so a few times, driving from LA to Tahoe up I-5 in the middle of the night. She holds together well, but I didn't fell like pushing it with a fully loaded truck with 2 snowboards and a pair of skis on the roof rack.

Well I live in NYC... not much straight/high speed roads... and the places I might be able to do it.. it's either Traffic or a Speed trap... but I did Maxed my 4Runner in PA and I did 100MPH with a hard tire screeching stop on the Williamsburg Bridge NYC... I was very shocked and impressed by this.. from a standing red light stop (Manhattan) right before the bridge to hitting 100 on the downhill side (Queens)... and when I maxed out my 4Runner is also the fastest I ever Drove... cause I hate Speeding and the whole Idea of Sportscars... and the times that I did break the speed limits was Emergencies and I was VERY careful about it...

Don't know to be honest. Right now I wanna see what the difference is if I get the 668 cm injectors from APR and run that E85 tune with a full exhaust and maybe different cams. I know I'll be faster than a Ford Fiesta! lol

The video is from 90-180, but i did another run after that. Tune was all the down, so approx 600hp out of 750. and I got pissed bc my friend had his camera in my face the whole time so i stuck it in 6th from 4th and let the turbos do work!
