What SUV other than a Runner

I picked up my 3rd Gen 4Runner a few weeks ago. It needs work. But my other gem I picked up recently is a 1986 Landcruiser HJ60. It's diesel and non-turbo. It's not fast, but it's reliable, and I'm getting mid-upper 20's mpg on the highway. The older I get, new vehicles become far less important to me than a good paid off vehicle that will run forever with basic maintenance. The new 4Runners are cool, but I don't want to plop down $40K+ for something anymore.

I thought I would enjoy my 3rd gen more than I do. I sold quite a quick E30 S54 swap for this just to have a care-free vehicle, but alas I think an X5M or Range Rover Supercharged sport will be the replacement, possibly LR4, maybe even F150 FX4. The biggest issue I have is the harshness. I have gone soft.

I gots me one of those too, a diesel. Neat project, I plan to convert it to being fully manual everything. Pneumatic starter if required, ether injection, and handcrank windshield wipers. The passenger can turn a hand generator to power the headlights (lol, no I'm joking about that one). I'll still keep the electric versions of all this but have the manual options as backup.

There are still a surprising number of replacement OEM parts available but that will drop off, especially after this virus does its economic damage.

Ideally I'd get a HZJ78 Troopy with 1HZ for touring and an Australian 105 with 1HDT for more hardcore trips.

2011 Lexus GX460. Still a Toyota:becky: Considered a 5th Gen and LX470 but in the end really glad with the decision. I plan to do a Prado 150 後期　(kouki) conversion, last picture. In a couple of weeks when fenders arrive I’ll be able to do that.

Big daddy

I would definitely would go end of the world or king of expedition vehicles capable of towing a completely modified GX 460. After all if money is no object might as well make it the big daddy of all motorhomes. Most american 4wd motorhomes are not nearly offroad capable or built to live off the grid like these.
