Where can I find a 3-pos-switch that could replace the dash-illumination wheel?

there's a roller switch type thing on the dash, to the left of the steering wheel beside the backup sensor switch - I'd like to swap this out for one that just had three settings: high, medium, and low. Having a 3 position switch (or just two position for high/low) would make it easier to adjust the dash panel lights (instrument cluster, etc.) to high or low. Does anyone know where one could find a switch that would be easy to swap in?

The article http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/92013-antmans-thread-2.html#post811096 already makes it easy to see how one would access the panel in question.

I'm not a "TRUE" expert wrt 4Runner parts; just "dibble~n~dabbling" around. However, there are some members here who most certainly can direct you with this. If it were myself with a Mod related question, I'd call on..."Antman", "1Eng'R", or "Harper7" to be sure.

There are no "easy swap " switches for this. It would have to be a modified factory switch or an aftermarket switch. Frankly, it would be more work than it's worth.
Part of the dash dimming is controlled by CAN (computer) and I haven't figured that out completely (YET!) anyway.

If it were myself with a Mod related question, I'd call on..."Antman", "1Eng'R", or "Harper7" to be sure.

I agree with with Ant.......way more work then it's worth and I like the function of the rheostat type switch so it would be a downgrade IMO.

Now if it was a TPMS warning light off/on switch we would have something worthwhile.I have work to do up under the dash soon and may try to figure that one out(pm'ing Antman of course).lol

I got the (not so subtle!) hint before Gary! Happy to help. Work has been suckin ass lately so I haven't had a lot of time to look into it...

Taking a potentiometer out, knowing that it is sending a variable signal to multiple outlets, and replacing it with a simple fixed voltage switch will be more difficult than replacing a simple switch with a potentiometer. Jeff and Gary know more about this than I do but I suspect there are a lot of 4-20ma pwm signals running around there.
