Windshield Pitting

Anyone notice how easily the windshields in the 5th generation 4R pits? I have an 05 that I bought in Jan 2013 that has numerous marks and pits. I have seen american made cars that are 3 or 4 years old that do not have pit one in them. Going to the dealer for service on saturday. I will mention it to them. What do you think there repsonse will be? What do you think my chances of getting the windshield replaced is? Just venting. My 07 had the same problem.:wtf:

They are going to tell you to pound sand. Do you do alot of highway driving? Pitting is the result of "road rash". My 07 Honda has pretty bad pitting. That is considered wear and tear. Only way to get rid of it is replacing it. I've had American cars/SUVs and Toyota/Lexus and never noticed a difference one having more/less pitting that the other.
 
My '12 is 9 months old and has 3 smaller "stars" and 1 much larger crack in its windshield. I replaced my '12 Camry twice in a year. But what is most annoying to me is there is a film on the outside that I can't get off. I have tried cleaners, vinegar and even bought some detailers glass polish and used my orbital polisher, still there. Just waiting until my annual state inspection is due to replace it, as long as the crack doesn't spread any more.
 
You want to see pitting, you should check out my windshield. 9 months old and the windshield is GONE!!! So is the front bumper. Sand/salt is thrown all over the roads for 6 months of the year and I spend it all on the highway. I'm waiting for the winshield to crack and go through insurance. As for the bumper... I'm going to have to suck it up and get it re-painted. May wait until next spring now as summer is half over.
 
Their stance will be that it didn't come from the factory with the pitting, so it's not a defect from the manufacturing processes.


WV runner on the other hand, may have a legitimate manufacturing issue.
 
Every Toyota I've ever owned (a 99 Tacoma, an 05 Tacoma, and now my 10 4Runner) has had issues with its windshields. Two days after my purchase of the 4Runner I had a star in the windshield. I posted a thread a while back as an informal survey to see who else thought Toyotas had issues with windshield strikes, and [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] didn't like it much. He thought I was bullshitting when I said I get rock strikes from several lanes over on a regular basis. It happened to me again on my way back from Colorado a few days ago and all I could think was that I wish I had video of it to prove him wrong!

Last time I wanted to shoot a video to prove @1engineer wrong I cracked my the black plastic under bumper trim trying to deliberately get it stuck in some light mud so I could air down the tires and get it unstuck.

Talk about a fail! Cracked the trim and of course the T4R pulled through with out spinning a tire. Circled back around, put it in two wheel drive and only managed to make the traction control activate briefly.
