XenonDepot HID vs LED, initial photo. (Pics reposted)

HIDs are in - that went very smoothly. The XD high beams are also in, but the strobe is quite noticable as a DRL, so im going to disable them. I didnt get to the fogs yet.

I would recommend disabling the DRLs if possible but if not then I would get a CANbus fix to allow them to work as your DRL.

What did you get for the fogs?

Installed over the weekend and loving em!!!

What you did you up installing?

hi, i installed mine last month, but not happy though. not too bright for both.
do you have a photo, how bright was it, compared your stock? what kind & specs you got?
thanks

Sorry to hear that, what product are you using?

Yeah i disabled the DRLs yesterday. The canbus module addresses the flicker but they still operate as "brights" in DRL mode, right?

I did the fogs yesterday - used the XD Xtreme LEDs there too. Installation was a PITA but they're in.

Correct, since LED bulbs can't dim then they would be on at full power in DRL mode with the canbus installed.

I've been getting flashed 2-3 a trip, thinking my HID's may be a tad high. I've attached a picture, not sure if anyone will be able to tell from it. Disclaimer: I didn't mark my stock bulb beam pattern and compare post install.

Hello Everyone,

I am new here, and with my first 4Runner, 2016 Limited 4x4.

I want to say that the guys at Xenon Depot have been great in getting me the bulbs I ordered, and while I started with Nokya bulbs, there was two different problems with two different sets of bulbs. One burned out in a few days, and a set for the Running / high beam lights were so loose after install they moved around a lot, to the point where they was no real good seal. I sent Xenon Depot a video and they agreed it was a concern. Nokya is stepping up to take care of return and refund, and I want to continue using Xenon Depot, so I am looking at different options now.

Well, here I am now looking at LED kits, Cree LED bulbs etc. and I have a question.

I have read on line that many people are happy with Cree LED bulbs (just the bulbs, since they are plug n play, no kits required).

I was thinking of changing my low beams and running / high beams with the Cree LED's.

Any thoughts or ideas around this?

Thank you!
BIZ

There are several threads how to properly align your headlights. It's hard to tell from the picture you posted but if you are getting flashed then you need to measure where your cutoff is.

After I installed mine, I didn't have a problem for weeks until i went fishing one weekend. I drove out friday night and got flashed for the next 2.5 hours. I didn't realize just moving from 265's to 275's made that much of a difference. I actually returned home from my trip early so that I wouldn't blind everyone on the back roads.

You basically need to measure from the ground to the center of your low beam housing. I find a white/lighter color wall is easier to see the cutoff. I think I put my cutoff 3" below the, ground to low beam housing measurement. I haven't been flashed since and I don't light up the interior of honda accords anymore when I am behind them.

Y'alls HID 5000k kit and interior Phillips t10 leds!!!

Just ordered the H11 Xtreme HID and the Yellow Phillips LED Fogs today so I will update with Pics when installed on my new 4 Runner Trail Premium.

I was getting flashed a lot too. I did the measurement and distance thing on flat ground and I still got flashed. The projection has a really good cut off line on the wall. What I did to correct the problem of shinning people was going driving around at night and kept pulling over to adjust the headlights to where it wasn't shining in peoples back windows and that has worked, unless I have a load in the back. Ill be adding stiffer springs to help with weight in the rear when I do the lift in the next month or two. My 4Runner is more weight sensitive in the rear as far as sagging goes then I thought it would be.

LED Replacement

I also replaced the original headlights with LEDs, both the Low and Hi beams. Low beams sucked. Hi beams lit up the road like day light. I have a set of HIDs on order with 75W Ballasts with 55W bulbs. Will try that combo and see how it works. May try 75W bulbs in the future.

Also have Factory Fog lights wired as DayLight running lights. When in the on position they come on when the ignition is in the run position on off when the ignition is turned off. They can also be turned off normally with switch. They can be wired to stay on when the Hi beams are on, but I haven't crawled under the dash to make that modification yet.

I also have the XD Phillips 4300k kit and love it, but I've been getting flashed like a cheap strip show. I've tried ad nauseam to search for ways to adjust them down, and I've not had much luck. Can either of you share how you adjusted the light pattern? Most of the threads I found were for 2010-2013 and didn't apply to the 2014+.

Thanks in advance.
