Why? They didn't touch my mats, well except to vacuum them.

Any chance of getting a pic of your pedal because i had my 06 in for minor issue with tire valve stem.When i got my runner back i noticed my gas pedal is small.Just had this done... now my gas pedal is small
but hey I got a free car wash and I was muddy and dusty as hell from the mountains the past few weekends:hatsoff:

That's exactly what mine looks like even though i already had the Weathertech Extreme mats in.They didn't even list it on my repair order receipt.

A charming young lady from my dealership called this AM and spoke to my wife about the recall. According to her they need to trim 1mm off the gas pedal for mat clearance.
If I read all this correctly, the issue is caused by placing all weather mats over carpeted mats?
I always take my carpeted mats out in the winter when the WT liners go in. Chance to clean them.

SERIOUSLY--1mm! That's about the thickness of a used dime. How would they even begin to measure that? Must have one heck of a micrometer.

I would bet she has been told 3 inches is 6 inches her entire adult life!!!
Now all of us who have the "trimmed" pedal will have Pedal envy!!!

I took my 08 in for a noisey drivers power window (100K mile Platinum warranty) today and completely forgot about the recall!!! Went to pick it up and they had taken my mats!! Asked to see the "new" mats. They Showed me the Tacoma mats since they had no 4Runner all weather mats in and had to order replacements for mine. The "New" ones SUCK!!!! They do say "Tacoma or 4Runner" on them but, they are very thin and have no real ridges to catch any water dirt ect.... They told me they are NOT cutting up the old mats until Toyota wants them back or if Toyota gives them the OK to dispose of them. I asked about Weathertechs and they said they were doing that for some customers. I may try to push for those. For now I told them I want my original mats back and will sign the release. When I go back to get my mats today I will tell them I will only replace the mats if they give me weathertechs. I will not accept these new POS!!!
On the flip side my 04 has the Thinner all weather mats toyota used to sell so even the new ones will be as good or better than the cracked ones I have right now in it. They also tried to tell me the 04 was not involved in the recall. Idiots!!!

I purchased Weathertech Digital Fit floor mats for my 06 in Sept 2010. I had the mats in my 4Runner when I took it to the local dealer on March 1st for the 90,000 mile maintenance. The dealership called me a few hours after I dropped it off and told me they were doing a gas pedal recall. They told me they would shaving the pedal but I had no idea they would be shaving it so much. When I picked up my car that night there was no floor mat on the driver's side and my driver's side Weathertech floor mat had been stuffed on top of the the passenger's side mat. They wrote on my invoice, "90L Recall Done I did remove the drivers floor mat there can only be one secured OEM mat on drivers floor , the one I removed was too close to gas pedal." In the pictures you can see how small the pedal is. (You'll have to excuse the dirt as right now it's quite muddy where I work.) Even when it's pushed all the way to the floor there is more than enough clearance with the floor mat. The floor mat was already designed to keep clear of the gas pedal so this just seems like overkill.

Yeah I brought mine in due to the sunroof being stuck open and they took care of the recall at the same time. They just adjusted the pedal up a couple degrees.

Here's our untouched untrimmed pedal with the official 4Runner all-weather optional floormat from Toyota. Note there's almost 3" of room between it and the floormat. This is on a 2008 4Runner Limited V6 4WD. My wife's car (not a Toyota) has a 2" clearance, and there's no talk of a recall for her vehicle.
