eh I'm not taking mine in. If I ever take my off road stuff off and sell my runner some one would see that and be like wtf!!! I know I would. Then once I explain why it was done they would say eh I will pass. And I wouldn't blame them either. Rather have a banged up bumper from Towing then a shaved pedal

Quick (possibly silly) question:

I'm taking my truck in to the dealer for some non recall related work in the next couple of weeks. Are they obligated to fix the pedal while it's there? Would turning down a recall fix void the warranty?

I don't really want them messing with the pedal (I don't use a floor mat near the pedal in any event) - the 4th Gen's is less comfortably located than the 3rd Gen's even without the fix.

Well the only thing that sucks is when you go to sell the car. When someone Carfax's the vehicle they will be able to tell you didnt have the recall done. You get the right person and they will freak out regardless if the fix is stupid or not.

Your service writer will inform you of the recall and ask for your authorization to perform the recall. If you refuse they will have you sign some documentation absolving them of responsibility, ect ect...

The recall is for 2003-2009 4Runners. Do the 2010-current models have the brake override software installed? Just curious.

Edit: I probably should have posted this question on the 5th gen site, but maybe someone here knows. I'm also curious how many inches are between the all-weather mat and the accelerator pedal on 5th gens, and if their pedals are shaved down to the after-recall size of 4th gens.

I believe we started brake over-ride programming phase-in in 2010 production vehicles, as for the measurement, I'd have to get back to you on that. And no the pedal would be the new model pedal that superceedes the previous ones that had to be cut.

Just got my recall letter today. Wow...I feel special now!!

Took mine in for the recall yesterday. Mine was getting caught on my weathertech mats because the mat would slide up. I cut the mat and took that little point off near the pedal and fixed it.

It looks like the dealer shaved off about an inch of the pedal as part of the recall.

Just got my letter yesterday as well. My driverside AW floor mat is looking a little worn so im kind of looking forward to a free new one. As long as it is still gray and not a thin POS. Does anyone with the new mats have any pics?

My Weathertech Extreme mats have a cut out near the gas pedal.It absolutely won't make contact with it.

Mine did too, but the point in the upper right would catch the pedal when I floored it when the mat slid up. I would slide the mat back to release the pedal. I finally just cut the point off the mat and no more problem.

I just went to Weathertechs website,they now call the Extreme mats Digital Fit,the other type are called All weather mats.The All weather mats are not molded,they are soft and would appear to move much more then the Digital fit version as these are molded hard.

Had to get new brake pads, shims, and holder pins today for my 03 4Runner. To my surprise they insisted on doing the Gas pedal recall. I said sure, why not, even though I just got Digital Weather tech's about a month ago. Inspected and saw the cuts like everyone else. Acceleration felt different, but it was probably my imagination. Not sure if they flashed the ECU, but everything is good to go now. I think the dealers get special treatment if they can say "we completed over 4,000 recall vesicles last month" blah blah blah.

Had mine done yesterday, I have all weather Toyota mats bought in 07 they didn't replace them and shaved off a tiny bit of my gas pedal. Nothing feels different at all.
