The above pic is my hvac, which is the worst. Last couple the lights are getting more even. I need to work on the 4x4 selector above.
Anyway, sand the bulbs tip down it will make the light shine out instead of up. I take quiet a bit of the material off.
Anyone Trying This in 2017?
It's obvious a bunch of us still need help doing this LED conversion. CookieRoe was nice enough to help me and he actually reposted his photos so they show up. But I still am not electrical savvy enough to do any of this. I think for those of us like me, we need a video that shows how to do it in detail -- almost a fool-proof way to do it. I don't know how to splice or ground things. As much as I'd want this post to be the ultimate guide, it's pretty bad for newbies and amateur car guys still. There is way too much room for error and unknown still. Until I can see how to do this step-by-step I can't convert any of my burnt-out bulbs. BTW the blocked Photobucket photos are making it way harder.
If anyone has the time to help us out please do so.

I think these guys have done a fantastic job of explaining the process. I did mine a few years ago and I can't be more pleased. Minus the HVAC controls that are made kinda weird for the lighting. I'm gonnna tweak mine some to get it perfect.
Why don't you just send your cluster off to the guys here that will do it all for you?

in all due respect, i dont know how much more hand holding can be done in this thread? if you need to learn how to solder, watch a youtube video. not to scare you, but these small SMD LEDs are a little tricky for those that have never soldered before or are nervous. i have done several clusters where dudes started and then gave up because they did not know how to properly solder the clusters.
if you are still scared, send your stuff to me, i do swaps in person or by mail all the time. i feel its very cost effective for what you get. info can be found below in my sig.

3rd,4th,5th led's will work. Ones with acrylic tops, sand them down some to get even light output. When you install just barely have to turn them. Here is a pic of positive sides
2 T4's for clock, white really looks almost brown. Blue looks really good
All else are t3's, including buttons, rear window etc.

So the T4's there for the clock are compatible with the 6 volt stuff?
