1996 - 2000 Easy Horn Upgrade

Hey guys, just upgraded the horns on my 98 so it sounds like my 01. I went from the twin circular horns to the beefy twin trumpet horns. Hella makes a kit specifically for "Toyota" so it's plug and play. Literally a 2 minute job. The kit number is Hella 012010901 and Summit Racing sell it for 14 bucks. Definitely one of my favorite mods. :trophy:

Do you have a sound clip or something? I've been thinking about "upgrading" mine but it's been on the back burner for a while, this is the perfect opportunity, although the item you linked to doesn't ship till next month for some reason, weird.

Not the same horn but sounds exactly the same.

I don't see anywhere that says how loud they are ( decibels)

I actually used a set that came form home depot, 10 bucks, 120 decibels I think, not exactly plug and play, come in chrome, I painted black,

Hella website says 113 db

then that's a great deal and wish I had gone that route, plug and play and black
think I might order a set because I would prefer Hella's

My boss has a set of train horns on his suburban. Of course before he told me he put train horns on his truck he pulled up right next to me and blasted them. Unbelievably loud.

The horn on these 3G's are pathetic....

Definitely considered it. Went as far as looking into parts and stuff, but never pulled the trigger. I think I would want them separate from my regular horn though....

Actually there's quite a few posts on here about train horns, and one guy in a 4th gen found a small enough air tank/compressor that all mounts in the engine compartment, so no separate place needed to mount that air tank, which is what stopped me from doing it the first time. Would be cool to have it all under the hood, and you can air use to pump up tires.
