2006 Scion iPod HU Cable

I've been watching this thread for someone to comment more on the IPOD cable to Scion HU. I want to buy the Scion HU and cable to my IPOD too but thought the lack of cableing a show stopper. Not anymore.

Can you find the part # for the cable and post back ? I'm not lazy but can't find the part when I go to your posted link.

Hold tight bb; let me explain something as I believe you've misunderstood what Ed is saying.

There are a total of three harnesses needed. Two are readily available from any Toyota dealer for $60-$100. The "missing" harness is actually an integral part of any 2006+ Scion dash harness ASSEMBLY...yes the entire 2" thick harness that wires everything on the dash. So to recap:

- The ebay auction is a good one; you get the two cables that anyone can buy from the dealership included with the HU. $215 is not a bad price for all of that.

- Buying a Scion T1806 head unit DOES NOT plug-and-play iPod functionality in a 4Runner. Nor does it for AUX. You will be able to install the HU in the Runner and use the steering wheel controls, but that is all.

The end all is that installing this HU is easy and a definite increase in audio, however, if you purchase this HU for the iPod functionality, as I did, you will need to:

1) know someone with an '06+ Scion who will allow you to remove the HU harness from the dash board harness assembly [easily a 1.5 to 2.5 hour job]; or

2) call your local salvage yards for an '06+ Scion and do the same.

PM with Q's before you buy a Scion T1806.

Thanks JoJo and Eddie. I may hold back. Seems the cabling still a big problem. I do like the T1806. Any big difference between the T1806 and T1807 ? I may go ahead and buy one of these off ebay.
 
As far as I know, the only big difference in functionality is that the t1806 controls an Ipod through the head unit (it also supports an aux in with the right wiring), while the t1807 only supports an aux in. I am using a t1807 now. I really like its ability to play wma and mp3 CDs. In addition to being a lot cheaper on Ebay, the t1807 is plug and play for everything but the aux in.
 
I guess the best thing to do is forget about the T1806 and go with a T1807 Scion HU.

I have a question about the IPOD connection to a T1806 from those who are alread using this setup.

What works best for IPOD attachment to HU ? I would like to have one ready when I pickup a T1806 off ebay.

Search and you will find. Looks like PA11-Toy is the aux connection of choice. Looks like the best current price is 120 + shipping. :) :bigok: :dancin: :bugeye:
 
I would say yes on the iPod adapter [the second link]. Go to gromaudio.com and get a contact number or email and ask them specifically about the T1806, but from my quick search, it looks like a solution.

I tossed the packaging a while ago. But any Toyota parts counter should have the part number.
 
Sorry for this random question, but is there a stock radio that we can put in our 4runners that has aux jack to plug the Ipod's directly in?

the new 4runner, 07 and on should have radio with AUX ports.

I don't know if they are and exact fit.

BUt you could always do this set with a Scion radio.

You just need to pull the old harness out of the Scion, like I have done.
 
Scion iPod missing cable

I have found a source for the cable that connects to the Scion head unit with the Ipod option to the other cables that connect to the iPod.
I purchased one to use on my Rav4 and it works great.
I found them for sale on ebay under "SC12234".
The seller is very helpful in answering any questions.
 
I don't really care about the head unit displaying all the info about the song, etc. I can use the ipod for that. I just want to be able to plug in the ipod directly to the head unit. Is that possible?
