2010 T4R to debut at Chicago/NY auto show

Thanks for the report. I guess that settles it then - no 5th gen until the '11 model year. The 4th gens reign from '03-'10 will be a record 8th model year for any generation of the T4R. I'm assuming this means that the 2010 GX470 will also be a carryover.

I am not sure if this just means the 5th gen that supposedly will be released around fall will just become a 2011 model or 2010, but either way, I believe the current 2009's that are showing up sparatically on the lots will be the last model year for that body style.

If they do release the new body style 5th gen this fall, its hard to believe it could even be called a 2011 that early, but again no one knows for sure when or what will be released

maybe they'll skip 2010 and juts let the 09 model years carry over....especially with the terrible economy, this could be possible

I don't mean any disrespect, but I highly doubt that any company had a 2010 model of anything that wasn't a redesign of some sort. It just wouldn't make sense to show in April a 2010 model that was going to be exactly like the 2009.

The spy shot of the gen 5 indicates that the next generation is coming out sooner rather than later. Toyota is not going to be out driving a next generation of a model 1.5 years prior to being released. Toyota is just too tight-lipped to chance that. To be honest, I'm surprised a spy shot of a Toyota coming out this Fall as a 2010 has slipped onto the Net this early.

I think I agree with you Jim - it doesn't make sense to have a 2010 model at a car show this early in the year without any major changes. From the other thread here it sounds like someone at the show confirmed that the 4Runner at the show had a build date well within the '09 model year range, thus I have renewed hope that we'll see a new 5th gen this fall as a '10
