Your office has a fleet of the 2005-2010 JGCs at best.

The 2011 model hasn't been released yet so no one came say how it will fare. This is an all new vehicle that Chrylser/Jeep has put a lot of effort into getting right. To just automatically say that an American Car Company (Jeep/Chrysler) can not get it right and produce a great vehicle is stupid.

Also, calling Chrysler an "American Company" is a bit of a stretch. GM, yes. Ford, definitely. Chrysler is more like the "special needs" member of the auto industry who hopscotch's around from investor firms to foreign ownership but no one can seem to make it profitable.

I finally bought what I've should have gotten years ago and I couldn't be happier.

Hmm, i wonder how the Jeep Wranglers are doing since 2007?? I know that Jeep put a lot effort in the Wrangler with the 2007 redesign. Does anyone have a copy of Consumer Reports and can look up the Jeep Wrangler??

The Wranglers are in a league of their own, literally. Since there isn't really a direct comparison, it's hard to judge what you're getting for your money. Feedback I've gotten is in line with older models, cheap interior parts, thin paint and the added complaint of an anemic engine since losing the 4.0L. If your shopping for a GC or a 4R, you probably won't include the Wrangler in the mix.

:iagree: Beautifully said...............I was burned 4 times.....well, really 3, the 4th Jeep I suggested to my father (in 2000) a 4Runner, he didn't listen and now that one is a flaming POS.

I've been wanting a t4r pretty much since 1991.........wait was worth it! :bluejump:

The 1st generation was hyped and well, was a worthy SUV at the time. This new one is most certainly newsworthy and by far SUPERIOR to previous generations........no doubt........HOWEVER, Chrysler has shown time and time again that they have (have/do) produced subpar products....

Point: This will be a formidable SUV when it comes out,.........fast forward a couple/few years and you WILL see them fall apart. I'm sure the majority on this forum will agree.......there IS a reason that we are all a part of this forum.

I doubt the new GC would be any better in quality, DC touted the same thing with the WK GC and WJ GC during their press release about quality. I was a previous 1999 Jeep GC owner and never again will I purchase a Jeep or any other Chrysler/DC/Cerebus/Fiat pieces of junk. My brother which I had warned not to buy a 2005 Jeep WK GC did anyway but only kept it for 18 months due to the constant repairs. I just got so fed up with the dealership telling me the problems are normal and that they all do that, it was like pulling teeth to get them to repair something under warranty. Leaks, moans, stalls, CEL are considered normal facts of life with a Jeep. It must be a Jeep thing.

Chrysler/Jeep has never gone thru a bankruptcy or restructuring like it just did. They are putting a lot of their future viability into making this vehicle the best they can.

I've owned a 2000 GC, a 2002 GC HO, and a 2006 GC SRT8. Not bad cars, but I've been much more pleased with the 4runner from a cost/benefit base.

If they come out with a 2012 GC SRT8...I'd be on that.

Looks like every other car based station wagon out there. Some like the feminine curves and the soccer mom look of these cars (similar to some of the older generations of 4Runners), to each their own I guess.

Nah, I just like vehicles that have taillights that don't look like they were added on as an afterthought.

After looking at some more of the 2011 Jeep GC pictures. I think I like my bug eyed 5th gen 4Runner better. That new Jeep looks too crossoverish, it reminds me of a GMC Acadia with a Jeep grill and rear looks like a hideous BMW X5 knock off. I'm not sold on the "Trail Rated" hype either, I doubt that it was able to traverse the Rubicon mechanically unscathed. Jeep has lost its way with the Patriot, Compass, Commander and now this. If it wasn't for my old SFA WJ 1999 JGC being so problematic I probably would have kept it. Like I said before I really doubt this new Jeep will be any more reliable than before.

Not sure how you can possibly lump the Commander together with the Patriot and Compass. The Commander is really equivalent to the 4Runner in just about every way possible, other than the fact that it's not built on a traditional ladder frame.

You're missing the point, he's not lumping them together (as similar vehicles). He's stated that the Patriot and Compass are piles of crap. Jeep indeed lost their way with those poor excuses for SUVs. Jeep HAD a good line up with the Cherokee/Wrangler/Grand Cherokee......all of them were noteworthy. The Compass and Patriot are forgettable cars at best.

This 2011 also reminds me of a GMC Arcadia at some angles. Sure it's good looking, and STRONG (crash test), but at the end of the day, you have a "strong" POS.

He's absolutely lumping them together. He mentions all three in the same sentence under the guise that Jeep has "lost its way". Sorry, but anyone who thinks the Commander is anything like the Patriot and/or Compass has zero credibility when it comes to the Jeep brand in general.
