2014 Side Mirror Whistle

Went to the dealer today for the second time with a complaint on the side mirrors whistling at speeds between 20-50 mph and on windy days. One of the techs called another department and there is a new TSB for those who have this issue.

TSB 0022-14 Some 2014 model year 4Runner vehicles may exhibit a whistle noise coming from the mirror assembly while driving. INSULATED MIRROR COVER BD1405.

Hope this helps anyone who had this annoying issue.

Thanks WOD!

I like the whistle noise! Others can here too because every time I hit the on ramp and accelerate it starts and people at the bad across the street out on the deck always look my way when the whistle starts.

I had the TSB performed last week. The whistle is gone. Thanks for posting!

Had taken mine in today and although they had a prognosis they did not have a solution as of yet. Waiting for them to hear back from Toyota Canada HQ. Apparently Canada and the US does not share the same TSB system. Can anyone in the States that had this performed tell me briefly what was done to mitigate this problem?

I have a 2015 Limited with this same issue on the driver's side mirror. I took it in to the dealer today and they fixed it for no charge. I told them about a TSB that Toyota has out on the subject (T-SB0022-14) but I'm not sure that helped any. The cause quoted on my receipt is RG 752991 air infiltration around the driver's side mirror. The tech removed the mirror and insulated it and now the whistle is completely gone. Hope this helps some of you with this issue.

sure would love to get rid of my whistle without having to go to dealer. I am under warranty but it is always a whole day affair that I would LOVE to avoid. Has anyone "insulated" the mirror cover themselves? where does the dealer put this felt or whatever

I had this issue about two years ago. I took it to 3 different dealers and they all thought I was crazy except the 3rd. I took it to them and they took the mirror cover off and put it back on. Fixed. Now here we are a few years later...
