Also, is your pro stock height? And is there any rubbing with these?
Do you have pictures of these mounted on your 4Runner? Can you measure the height of the tire now that it's installed?
Eh, it's relative. The jk D44 is really only a 44 in the center section. The axles tubes, ball joints, etc are all the same as the 35s. Same with the ujoints, iirc.
No. It's not. Not even close. A 4340 30 spline D44 outer has ~5800lbs breaking strength. The 8" 30 spline birfields are now over 9,000lbs. There is a birfield from RCV, but they have to be really small to fit in a D44 knuckle. A current model IFS outer is bigger and stronger by a pretty significant margin although I've yet to see one actually tested on a machine. I'd bet they're easily 50% stronger than the aftermarket D44 shafts and maybe double the strength of a stock D44.
For those of us who traverse dry rugged terrain that puts us out in places where you can easily be 50+ miles away from any form of pavement. E-rated KO2s make a whole lot of sense. I’ll take the 5ish lbs of weight penalty if it means I️ don’t have a shredded tire on the trail.
What I️ was getting at is the notion of running a 33” tire for mostly pavement/graded dirt road use. I️ think it’s silly.

“Dana 44” axles on the JL are apparently much stronger and feature a different ring and pinion (210 mm/8.27 inches front and 220 mm/8.66 inches rear on Rubicon)...it based on Dana’s new Advantek design. So, it is not even a Dana 44 for that matter...it is basically a brand new axle design...a design that is apparently stronger than all previous D44 on JK.
According to FourWheeler: First Drive: 2018 Wrangler Rubicon JL
“ The new JL axles are stronger and feature a different ring and pinion (210 mm/8.27 inches front and 220 mm/8.66 inches rear on Rubicon) and thicker axletubes.”
Anyone else have these 285's on a 4runner?
Would the Trail/ORP wheel be better suited for the 285 being a 7.5 width vs the 7 wide TRD wheel?
I'm imagining needing at least a Bilstein 5100 setup on the .85 setting up front to prevent rubbing.

I found some C load 285s, 5 for $750 with 1,100 miles, zero miles on the spare from a 2018 Jeep Rubicon takeoffs. Rides like my 265s, zero complaints. I do miss my raised white lettering. Mounted them to a bronze FN Pro wheel.

Looks awesome. What setup are you running?

Suspension setup? 5100s all around, Dobinsons 302 and 505 coils.
I need to find a take-off set of these in SoCal STAT. Did you search the JL and wrangler forums to find these?
With that setup, does the lift come from the coils? (stock setting on the front 5100s?)
Not to high jack this thread, but I have a set of these tires. Set of 4 for $800. BFG KO2 285/70/17. C load range. Came off a 2018 Wrangler Rubicon JL with only 1200 miles. PM me if interested.Hi guys,
Just spotted this photo leak of the new Wrangler JL with BFG KO2 285 70R17 load range C!
Seems like it is inevitable and replacements will need to be available to replace.
