Also, is your pro stock height? And is there any rubbing with these?

My pro is lifted 1.5" in the front with Cornfed spacer and I got 1" in the rear with the Wheelers/Eibach T13 coils. Not even close to rubbing even with mud flaps still on. If I put on wheel spacers, which I'm debating on, I'll need to remove the mud flaps

Do you have pictures of these mounted on your 4Runner? Can you measure the height of the tire now that it's installed?

Here ya go. They measure closer to 32" than 33' IRL, set at 37 PSI right now.
My pro is lifted an additional 1.5" in front and 1"ish in rear. No rubbing, really not even close so I'm debating wheel spacers to give it a more aggressive stance. Hope this helps!

Edit- Added a picture with the mild lift with the stock 265 Nittos for comparison

Eh, it's relative. The jk D44 is really only a 44 in the center section. The axles tubes, ball joints, etc are all the same as the 35s. Same with the ujoints, iirc.

No. It's not. Not even close. A 4340 30 spline D44 outer has ~5800lbs breaking strength. The 8" 30 spline birfields are now over 9,000lbs. There is a birfield from RCV, but they have to be really small to fit in a D44 knuckle. A current model IFS outer is bigger and stronger by a pretty significant margin although I've yet to see one actually tested on a machine. I'd bet they're easily 50% stronger than the aftermarket D44 shafts and maybe double the strength of a stock D44.

“Dana 44” axles on the JL are apparently much stronger and feature a different ring and pinion (210 mm/8.27 inches front and 220 mm/8.66 inches rear on Rubicon)...it based on Dana’s new Advantek design. So, it is not even a Dana 44 for that matter...it is basically a brand new axle design...a design that is apparently stronger than all previous D44 on JK.

According to FourWheeler: http://www.fourwheeler.com/news/1712-first-drive-2018-wrangler-rubicon-jl/

“ The new JL axles are stronger and feature a different ring and pinion (210 mm/8.27 inches front and 220 mm/8.66 inches rear on Rubicon) and thicker axletubes.”

For those of us who traverse dry rugged terrain that puts us out in places where you can easily be 50+ miles away from any form of pavement. E-rated KO2s make a whole lot of sense. I’ll take the 5ish lbs of weight penalty if it means I️ don’t have a shredded tire on the trail.

What I️ was getting at is the notion of running a 33” tire for mostly pavement/graded dirt road use. I️ think it’s silly.

based on BFG's webpage the savings is almost 8lb (58.16 vs 50.33) Substantial for sure. I noticed this on their page a couple weeks ago. No timeline on when the orders will be filled, and I'm waiting patiently as my 275's will need replacing this spring.

Typical Jeep. 5 axle options total. Only good axles on the Rubicon model. Oddly they're going to use CVs for the Sahara but U-joint outers on the other models including Rubicon. And the Rubicon will apparently have wider axles too. Probably a step in the right direction there. Toyota won't even re-tool to build a wider rear axle on the 7x series to match the front axle width.

The Rubicon front diff gets smaller than current Rubicon, but only marginally so. The D44 weakness isn't the differential so much as it is the outers. No physical room for any type of serious steering joint. Always been the Achilles heal. You'd have to measure the knuckle or at least know the u-joint size to get a good idea of whether they're going to be a good choice or not. Looks like the base models are still using the same size u joints as the old ones. But visually it looks like there might be more room inside the new "C". If you could even fit a birfield the size of a Toyota 8" front axle in them you'd have a huge improvement in strength - almost double.

Anyone else have these 285's on a 4runner?
Would the Trail/ORP wheel be better suited for the 285 being a 7.5 width vs the 7 wide TRD wheel?
I'm imagining needing at least a Bilstein 5100 setup on the .85 setting up front to prevent rubbing.

On stock wheels you have correct offset for most rubbing. You may have to slightly "adjust" fender liner but not much rubbing (i.e only in full lock)

Check out "Fender Liner Mod" on this forum for best results.

EDIT: I would also recommend the Bilstein's .85 setting none the less due to the slight increase in height and the functionality of the shocks themselves.

I have 275's with 1.75 Bisteins and a 1.5 spacer in the rear and still rub upfront... Prep the fender mod

C load

I found some C load 285s, 5 for $750 with 1,100 miles, zero miles on the spare from a 2018 Jeep Rubicon takeoffs. Rides like my 265s, zero complaints. I do miss my raised white lettering. Mounted them to a bronze FN Pro wheel.

I’m looking for a set of takeoffs in Maryland now. Looking forward to trying these out.

I need to find a take-off set of these in SoCal STAT. Did you search the JL and wrangler forums to find these?

Discount tire is still having their ebay sale. I found the 285 c's for $828, free shipping. I think the sale is on until 3/19.

I almost missed it on Craigslist. Just type in KO2. I usually look every morning, but I was dead set on hitting the sale at 4Wheel Parts on March 10 th I purchased 4 275s for a grand with warranty. Got home, started looking at CL anyways and punched myself in the junk for almost missing that deal. Tried canceling my order without losing any restocking or shipping fees. Got all my money back, just lucky they hadn’t sold.

Hi guys,

Just spotted this photo leak of the new Wrangler JL with BFG KO2 285 70R17 load range C!

Seems like it is inevitable and replacements will need to be available to replace.
Not to high jack this thread, but I have a set of these tires. Set of 4 for $800. BFG KO2 285/70/17. C load range. Came off a 2018 Wrangler Rubicon JL with only 1200 miles. PM me if interested.
