Sorry for bumping yesterday with no relevant info.....I got the notification that you liked my comment which reminded me of the conversation with the wife about her POS Jeep actually doing Broken Arrow in 2wd....which I totally forgot.
My wife reminded me the other day that we did the whole trail in her TJ without the 4wd working. We didn't do one of the optional climbs (we did it in the 4Runner....had family in town and had 6 people in the two vehicles)....but we did do the big downhill (not that you need 4wd for downhills).
but I definitely stay in 2wd as long as possible.
Forgiven; I added relevant info. I'm not familiar with Broken Arrow, but I definitely stay in 2wd as long as possible.
If I may ask...Why? I know some guys who do it for bragging rights....but to me, it just makes more sense for everyone that you complete the trail without breaking and causing a delay for other users. Not to mention, it puts a whole lot less stress on the drivetrain.
Just curious.
Sean K. I was actually just referring to the recent snow and ice we've had, and wanting to see how these tires do at 45PSI on snow/ice. That said, without a winch- or any armor AT ALL- I'm not going on any trails that will put me in such a bind I'll be breaking rear axles on. I guess you could call it bragging rights, but it's more of a personal challenge to me, and fun to see how far I can go with a locker in 2wd.
The only part that was difficult was the small side trail to the right. The up hill section was heavily dug out and lose. But was fun. I was scared to hit a harder trail so far from home and my brothers 4th gen is super Shiney so he is always scared of the fun trails. Best party was the scenery.
You will break a front cv way before the rear end. More so running 35s and larger.
Didn't mean to call out your wheeling. Just poking fun!!

In 2wd? [emoji6]

Nothing wrong with that....just wondering.
Ya out here....you pretty much have to at least run sliders or your rocker panels will get destroyed on the first mid range trail you run.
I'm pretty good without sliders. I've barely hit enough to slightly scratch my limited plastic cladding. The body lift saves me every trail. I watch my buddy's on 3" lift and no BL get hung up all the time.
You know I meant on the trail. Lol.
Sean was talking about it being inconsiderate to run in 2wd, due breaking and blocking up the trail. I said I don't run on trails that would cause me to break a rear axle, cause I don't even have sliders yet... Trail or not, breaking CV's shouldn't be a problem in 2wd [emoji1383]
You mentioned breaking rear axle. Either way we don't break rear axles often. So don't worry about that since that's one of the reasons you don't run hard trails.
The mid range level (rated 3.0 and up) trails here are going to require that you drive a tire over a rock the size of the one in your avatar at it's highest point, and the canyon will be narrow enough you can't go around it...which means you're going to come down on that rocker.....though a body lift will certainly help.
From looking at your avatar pic, that rock, at it's highest point, looks like it would just barely touch the body if you kept going forward....well, and turned slightly passenger.![]()
Yeah and that avatar pick is pre body lift. If I get into that situation I build bridges and ramps. Do what you gotta do to save your rig. I really want sliders though.
