37" surplus MTR tires + Icon stage 3 + extreme fender trimming

What are yalls thoughts? I am wanting to run an Icon stage 3 with Billet UCA's, extreme fender trimming/cutting, 4.56 gears and surplus MTR hummer takeoffs... This will be on my 2012 TE with KDSS

I ran these same tires on my 89 4runner with air lockers, 4.56 gears and stock suspension. I care about ground clearance, I dont need 10" of lift just to gain 3" of clearance. I did have RCV Performance cv's though, I wonder if they do axles for the 5th gen. Ill have a look

They do make them, they run about $2000 and I have personally seen them take a beating on an FJ Cruiser. Plus, the boots do not wear like the OEM....BUT that price tag...OUCH

yup I imagine i wont replace them until I blow the stockers... ive contacted CBI offroad to see their thoughts on running 37" MTR's with only 2-3" of lift the Icon lift will give me. Ill be running their bumpers and aux fuel cell as well.

I'm not certain if 16.5" wheels will clear the caliper. You might want to double check that.

indeed, that would be a problem. This whole thing rides on being able to use the large stockpile of like new Hummer takeoff tires I have collected. they are great tires, E rated and last a very long time. I ran them on my old 4runner, my dodge diesel and now id like to run them on my new 4runner lol.

I really hope this could work, but I highly doubt it can. The calipers do not have much clearance (big suckers). Also, I am running a 34 and know I could go to 35 but I can't see how to get to 37s. There just isn't room in there. I've cut out as much body mount as humanly possible, trimmed tons of plastic (not much there anymore) and we are going to modify the rear bumper for stuffing... If you figure out a way, you are my new hero!

I don't think they are available for the 10+. I looked all over for a more durable axle that could actually handle more lift than stock. Waiting for TC to make them. They are tallying up the people that want them. When they get enough interest they said they would, then we can have real long travel fronts...

Ive also got a connection to get cheap hummer ballistic Run Flat take offs... with an adapter from 6x5.5 to 8x6.5 I could run the actual ballistic run flat hummer wheels/tires.

Ill try to pull a dimension of the inner radius of a standard H1 wheel. these wheels are usually 7" of BS so with a 2" adapter/spacer Id be looking at 5" of BS for a rubber or PVC ballistic run flat double bead lock.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have a 2012 4runner and Ive tried 2005 4runner 16" TRD wheels which do not clear the much larger calipers on the newer 4runners. I will either be using a 2" spacer adapter, or have you guys reweld centers. either way I have been told 16" wheels dont fit, and 17" is the minimum. this is why Im scrambling around trying to get an Inside diameter measurment. thanks

The 16.5's are an odd ball wheel. They don't dip in like most other wheels. So the 16.5's usually have more clearance than others. I run 14" rotors with 6 piston Wilwood calipers and the hoops on my 16.5's clear just fine.

Inside diameter on a recenter is 15.5ish.

ok cool man thanks. How do yall recenter and cut the new centers? Do yall do it on a CNC Mill? just wondering how true they are and if balancing is an issue?

I can't give you all of our secrets. We do it the right way so you won't have problems.

haha no worries my man, I imagine some centramatic wheel balancers would be a big plus for a vehicle that sees 70% highway and 30% hard offroad use.

Centramatics are cool. I'd try a traditional balance first and see if you even need them.

the weight of these wheels and tires are going to be ridiculous. I can shave a few pounds going with 24 bolt hmmwv wheels vs the 12 bolts and running only 12 bolts in them. plus if I eliminate the rubber run flat ring and go with some precision cut pvc inserts Ill lose another 30+lbs per tire...

the inner diameter of the 16.5's are about 15.5" is this enough to clear the calipers? Ive heard of the newer dodge diesel guys shaving a little of the outside of the calipers down to clear these wheels...

what backspacing are you running? also if you could would you change the backspacing, would that help? I can get these wheels recentered and could go anywhere between 2.5-4.5" of backspacing
