another suspension thread i know! but i am a newb!

so i just sold my VW GLI and i got a 2002 4runner 4x4 and i have blown struts so i figured i would lift it but i don't want anything crazy tall. i have been reading on here and the 02's are an inch shorter than every other gen??

i was looking at OME kits and was thinking of doing 880s up front and 890s out back but i can't find how many inches of lift you get, i want some stance when unloaded, Also is it popular to drop the front diff and use a different track bar? In the VW world you didn't have to worry about all of this lol :lmao:

thanks dudes

i have searched around a bit as far as the heights of the springs are the suspension guide up top as 880 and 881 at 2.5 and 3 inches and arb has them both rated at 1.75 ?? but that could be the height assuming you already have added weight up front ?

I'll make it easy on you. I would do 881's and 890's. Here is an example of how it looks, post #53 http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/98802-overthinking-confusing-lift-options-4.html.

880's will give you about 1-1.5" lift and 881's ~2". 890's = ~3", but might sag .25-.5".

Diff drop isn't necessary with the 881's, but people use them anyways. Panhard bar shouldn't be a problem with an 890 lift, but you can get a panhard bar drop from toytec if you want and have someone to weld it on.

The 880's look good with the 906's. Not sure I'd run them with the 890's though. Looking forward to seeing what you go with.

good info but i disagree about not needing a pandhard drop or an adjustable panhard, without it the axle will not be centered and the car will not track straight.

I'm just saying it isn't absolutely necessary. People drive without them all the time, but it is suggested.

sweet guys thanks for the info, i think i will probably go with the 881 890s with the comfort shocks and get the adj pan hard bar. Also i have been seeing that ball joint failures can be devastating so while I'm in there i will replace those, however which ones are more prone to failure the upper or the lower ones? the truck has 155k on it and i see that the 2002s had a recall on them did this solve the problem or are they all prone to failure?
