3RZ Runners Only

Yea, that's why I'm still researching. I wouldn't pay for a K&N but maybe something cheaper from Injen or E-bay.
I'm just worried that the stock intake isn't good enough for the SC.

I think I still have my K&N intake that I removed when I turbocharged out in the garage if you're interested in that. No clue what shipping would cost since it's not the smallest thing in the world, but I can look into it if you want; just shoot me a PM to let me know if you do.

What gears do you have? Mine came with 4:56 from the factory so I'm going to supercharge mine. I already have headers, high flow cat & exhaust. I'm researching CAI too.

I'm not sure. Is it not the same for all 3rz SR5 base models ?? If not, how do I find out? For whatever it's worth, I did a lot of research on the CAI vs Deckplate mod and the Deckplate mod seems the way to go. When I did mine I noticed a difference and even got a little bit better gas mileage. Plus, it saves some dollas....:tea:

99' base model 4wd with 5 spd tranny and 209k. 2 owner, bought it Jan 2014 with 197k on it. Original owner had it the first 14 years, 2nd owner had it less than a year. Both P.O's took very good care of it. It was bone stock when I got it, and had no rust!
I replaced all the fluids with Redline synthetic, new plugs and wires, and a few other small things. Drove it stock for about 6 months, then started modding. I installed a 3" lift, (Tundra coils, OME 890 and bilstien 5100's), new duratrac 235/85r16 tires, Stubb's sliders, AOR plate front bumper with Warn M8000s winch, full set of Shrockworks skids (including gas tank skid). The Ol' gal has put on some weight! I am currently working on fabing a custom rear bumper (Bandit Runner design), so she'll be getting even heavier.
This truck is SLOW! But I don't mind, it's not my DD. My next mod will be 4.88's and ARB air locker and 33's (255/85r16...I love pizza cutters)
I have owned several 4wd's (including 3 other toyota's), and for some reason, I like this one the best. This is also the first vehicle I have ever modded! I hope to get a lot more miles out of her...even if she has put on weight:wink2:

Hey, do you know what stock gears came with yours?? Love your rig btw.

4.10 was fairly common for the 4wd 4runners. 4.56 was for an elocker 4wd

Follow my build thread. I'm about to redo my intake but mine is completely sealed, custom, and it uses a amsoil cone filter which does more air volume. Plus I have a snorkel.

I'll check it out. I should do a snorkel. Do you have a link to your build?

I'd be interested it. Is it a dry filter? UPS Ground is pretty cheap or USPS.

They are not all the same. See this link for descriptions & check your model code.

It's an oiled filter one but Injen/Amsoil likely offers a same or similar size dry filter. I'll take a look when I get home to see if I have a box that fits and what shipping would be.

Hey thanks man. I figured it out. :thumb3: I have 4.10's. 4.56's still my best bet with future add ons like bumpas and stuff or should I go 4.88's? I see some guys like UnderFire running the 4.88's and you stuck with your 4.56's.

Tire size is the biggest factor, 4.88's if you ever are wanting 34's pr 35's, if you're staying in the 33" range 4.56 will be absolutely fine.

I only put 33's on last year & my truck slowed down a lot. It's fine on the highway though. We'll see how the SC makes up for the lost power. If I re-gear in the future it will be with lockers front & rear.

Right on. I have a 3 inch lift with 265, 70, 17's MT'S and its not unbearable but its not the best. I was thinking about grabbing Addicted off-roads full bumper and rock sliders kit and didn't know if switching to 4.56 gears will be enough.

That's interesting you say that because I have the KM2 and they measure to be a 34" tire so I'm debating still on 4.56 or 4.88.

If you are doing any long distance/high speed driving also look at max cruising RPM. I do a lot of trips to Utah and stayed with the 4.30 gearing to keep my RPM's down at 80 mph.

Anyone ever done the front oil pump seal assembly? I am pretty sure mine needs replacing. I looked around for a write up but no such luck. Just general rip down tips. I know you have to remove the radiator, belts, pulleys, and then you're down to it. Youtube had a video of the leak....but nothing more so I'm looking for some tips on it. Right now I looked at an estimate of 1500+ but I smell BS on it. There's no way that radiator removal, belt and pulley removal, seal replacement, and then reversing takes 15 hours of work?

This was the most informative thread I found.

I've never done it but that price is BS, that's more than the timing belt on the 3.4. LOL
Check Youtube under Tacos' they have more of these engines.
