I took my statement down, didn't want to start a war Chevy vs Toyota war cause that was really not what it was about.

i do drive one, in oklahoma like every other suv is one, the company i work for has over 300 of them converted to CNG + gasoline (bi-fuel).

My wife and I also drive a 335i, but were looking for a new 4Runner too and they can't find me one that i want within 750 miles, so i may just wait on the 2012 and "order/dealer prefer" one.
 
this is probably due to earthquake related production issues, but toyota quality is in big trouble. they had better get their act together. Kia and hyundai are making some major gains against toyota...

^^^^I agree. Where's your evidence KIA and Hyundai are gaining on Toyota? The data I've seen shows them on par with Ford or Nissan, but not Toyota, Honda, and Subaru.

Funny, I waited 5 years hoping the 5th gen was not the 4th gen. Long wait...I tried to like the 4th, but not for me. The 5th on the other hand I threw down over a year ago. Different folks, different strokes. To avoid a potential flame war, I will avoid why I like the 5th over the 4th. Both are rock solid either way.

lol, not to be insulting here, you think toyota is ahead of nissan? Last i drove a nissan/infiniti it drives a heck of lot better than a toyota, not to mention better styling and interior. maxima, gtr, altima, z, g, fx, qx, murano drive better than any toyota/lexus in that segment comparison. On the gx, they surely missed to boat on some things. If infinit made a mid size body on frame, i would of bot it. Unfortunately nissan doesnt hold its value as well, but that may be changing. Subaru? LOL.. you must be joking

I decided not to buy a Tundra due to the AIP issues they have, nothing like a 4K fix IF it goes bad after warranty, and this is on a part that serves zero function in my eyes.
 
I just wanted to match your "factual" response with one of equal intelligence. No harm meant though. :)

- How a vehicle drives; (or in your definition "feels") differs from person to person.

- Styling has nothing to do with the "quality" as typically defined.

So, you've proved nothing in the way of how Toyot's quality has suffered. You've thrown out stuff about how a vehicle rides; that's all. Styling is meaningless in terms of your comment about quality. Also, citing sales figures is also meaningless as it has nothing to do with the overall longevity of the vehicle!


And, I can't for the life of me believe you actually cited the GR-R in response....
 
no insult taken. people here should be more open to criticism which i can tell you for a fact they are not! they would die for the 4runner if it came to that. and judging by the countless mods you folks here do or wanna do, now why would that be if toyota just made it right in the first place? hey my gx is not all that great either, just check out the lexus gx forum for issues with this hunk of metal...

When people mod their car heavily, it's usually because they really like it. No one mods a car they dislike.

For some perspective, if you want to see *****y, hang around a BMW forum for a few days.

quality imho entails everything you mentioned, driving, style, they way it looks, TECHNOLOgy features which toyota is lacking on for sure...

Used to own an e36 and later an e46. The forums were full of trolls and touchy douches back when I owned those cars. I'll grant it could be different now.

I used to own an STi and an S2000 - those cars had great online communities. 4Runner community is pretty good too, IMO.
