4th gen- For all who've done the FJ swap....

Just got mine back from the shop.

I had a stock 2004 V6 4WD 4R suspension prior to installing the following parts:

- Toytec 1/2" Spacers
- 2008 FJ TT Springs, Bilstein Shocks, and Bilstein Struts

BEFORE:
Front: from ground to bottom of fender flare - 32-7/8"
Rear: from ground to bottom of fender flare - 35-5/8"

AFTER:
Front: from ground to bottom of fender flare - 34-3/4"
Rear: from ground to bottom of fender flare - 36-5/8"

LIFT GAINED:
FRONT: 1-7/8"
REAR: 1"

Now to try to deal with the pesky ABS, VSC, and TRAC OFF lights:dammit:

Well, I finally opted for and purchased some slightly used OME 895E (practically new). Yesterday, I had some time to spare so I swapped out the FJ rear coils for the 895E.

I did notice a slight height increase, and the ride was not bad at all compared to what I read from other users who had 895/895Es. For some reason, I lost about 7/16" in the front, probably from the slight forward rake stance I have at the moment.

My next install will be some Toytec 1/4" spacers for the front....Xmas gift!

Anyway, below are my stock, DS 2.5/1.5, FJC/5100 and 895E install measurements.

Driver Side Measurements
Stock:
Front: 33-5/16
Rear: 35-3/8

DS 2.5/1.5:
Front: 36-3/8 (3-1/16 gain from stock)
Rear: 37-5/16 (1-15/16 gain from stock)

FJC Coils (2007-2009) – All Around
DS 2.5/1.5 removed
Bilstein 5100 @ .85 (front only)

Front: 35-7/16 (2-1/8 gain from stock)
Rear: 35-13/16 (7/16 gain from stock)
Note: installed rear Bilstein 5100, no change

Bilstein 5100 All Around (front @ .85)
FJC Coil (2007-2009) – front only
OME 895E

Front: 35 (1-11/16 gain from stock)
Rear: 37-3/4 (2-3/8 gain from stock)
Note: not sure why I lost approx. 7/16 in the front when going from FJC rear to 895E.

Here's a one of a kind front end only Fj swap...

Its an adjustable Pro Comp drop bracket, modified to fit a fourth gen (05 limited V8). Max allowable lift is seven inches, I currently have it set to just over 4 inches, need alot more work and bigger tires before I can go to 6".

Current wheel well height is 43.5 inches off the ground (sittin on 35's).

Finally got my lift installed I'm very happy with the way it rides, It's much better. It seems I ended up with more lift than I thought, but I'm really not complaining. I need to fill the tank and put some miles on it let it settle, then I will figure out exactly what I got. So far it gave me 4" in the Front and 2.5 Back.
Sorry for the lame quality pic's low light with a phone.:redbrick:

FJ coils springs (4)
Bilstein 5100 (4) Front set at 2.5
Daystar 1.5 spacer Rear
BFG Mud T/A 255/75/17, FJ wheels.

hmm, I just installed 5100's (at 2nd notch from the bottom .85") and fj 4x4 coils today, but i'm getting a BIG lift, I went from center of wheel to fender 19" before and jumped to 24" after the lift. I know things are going to settle but is this a bit odd? I measured 38 3/4" from the ground to front fender. I'll take pictures tomorrow as this is at night and I finished not too long ago. Now the front is higher than the rear, and I hope it settles a bit more.

That does seem odd... you should have netted just about 1.85" of lift in the front and between 0.5"-0.75" in the back. I'm assuming that the "0.85" setting on the billies is net lift and not the increase in spring perch height. A new suspension install will settle a bit, but definitely not that much. Are you sure that you have the coils positioned and seated properly?

Figured out the problem after an hour of researching! The shop installed the spring/strut assembly and the spring seat is on backwards!

And! i just came across the no spring compressor thread! Another few wrench hrs tomorrow !

Does anyone know the color code for driver vs passenger side front springs? I have a set of FJ springs/shocks from an 09 fj with 100 miles on them. One spring is yellow/yellow, the other is purple/yellow. I know there is a thread with this info but I havent seen it searching. Thanks.

Any updates on the chart?

Specifically I wanna know the total lift for a 4g v6 with fj bilstein shocks/springs and also how much a full daystar kit will lift it on top of that. TIA

Probably 3.5 front, 2 rear. I've been busy lately, but I'll try to update the chart this weekend.

Which Daystar kit would one need with a 2010 FJ bilstein shock/coil setup?
I can't say for certain, but my assumption is that either the FJ or 4runner kit should work. The rear coils are the same, and the front strut mount is the same. Therefore, either kit should work. The difference is the lower shock mount on the front, and the top mount on the rear shock, neither will affect the Daystar kit.

if anyone can chime in it'd be appreciated. thx

I just checked part numbers. Daystar shows the same part number for all FJ's. I know there have been folks that have used the FJ Daystar kit on their 4runner. I believe the FJ kit is typically cheaper, so that's the route I'd go. I'm sorry, I can't recall names, but I know I've seen people here use the FJ kit.

Edit: I think I may have found the answer. The front kit is the same, but the rear spacer is different. However, even with this difference, the FJ spacer will still fit the 4runner without an issue. I know several have used the FJ rear spacer.

i know. don't know why they are so different in price. SO i called daystar and talked to a technical person over there. he looked at the specs of both of the different spacers (KT09118BK for the 4R and the KT09127BK for the FJC) and said that the only differences that he could see is the way the bump stop sits on the spacer. so there is a difference at the top someway. the dimensions and the way the spacer seats on top of the spring is the same and since the factory bump stop is retained that will seat in correctly. not really sure but its $100 cheaper and is working just fine for me =)

And here's another thread with info:
