5th Gen Marker Lights in Grill

After combing through this thread I concluded that most people are tapping into what you are calling the "parking Lights" which I assume is the bulb housed inside the buldge on the side of the headlights? Am I correct to assume that bulge has its own bulb independent from the turn signal? And if so does anyone have a quick picture to link which wires they are exactly? in relation to the battery.

Any help would be great. :thumb:

After looking at the truck last night and trying to figure out what exactly are "parking lights" I am even more confused. The side bulbs beside the headlight blinkers don't come on until the headlights are on. So I am not quite sure what everyone means by parking light now. Anyone can elaborate please?

I will when I get the chance. They are actually not as bright as the other brand though. More understated single led look than full diffused light. Still a toss up if I want to change them out or not.

Need help with wiring!

Just found this thread and have read through the pages. Seems like everyone followed the RCO thread for the most part, with a few different options for lights and some different options for routing the cables in some.

I have followed the RCO instructions to a T and still can't figure out why I can't get power to go to the lights. Here are a few photos. What am I doing wrong here? Any help...?

Red is going to red wire through a butt splice crimp connector. White is going to black wire through a butt splice. Wires are 16 gauge.

Both red wires are then twisted together and joined to a single red wire through a butt splice crimp connector. This one is a little thicker obviously because of the 2 strands of wire. I feel like maybe this might be it? Maybe its not deep enough into the crimp connector? Or would that not matter as much?

I pulled on each of the connectors and they are all tight and secure too.

From here, then routed the red wire through to the cabin, hooked the add a fuse line to it and plugged it in to the open fuse suggested. Black wire I tried on both spots that RCO said, and nothing. Tried it with my headlights, DRL lights, everything and no power at all.

It's driving me nuts. Disassembled everything even and started from scratch again and still nothing.

Any help would be appreciated though!

You need to add a couple of 10 amp fuses (*edit* not 10 amp, do your research, my electrician skills are non existsnt*) to the add a fuse. I disassembled/reassembled my setup 4 times before I figured it out :ybrick:

Thanks for the quick reply camerasncoffee. Did other people have this problem too and had to buy those? Seems strange they didn't add it to the write up though to have these or did I totally miss that?

Do you mind showing a photo of the setup?
How many did you buy and add to the add a fuse?

If you look at this picture from their writeup you can see the fuses on there. I agree that it's odd that they left that part off of the writeup since the rest of it was so thorough.

You'll want to use 2, the pack that I linked to includes 5.

You are a lifesaver. I have been at it all day trying to figure out what the heck I was doing wrong or if I was just terrible at putting splice connectors on. haha. Definitely felt like it wasn't rocket science though and I was missing something in there.

I only had one fuse and it worked fine. Mind it didn't work when plugged into one of the port versus the other. I thought it was odd.

I did a search, but couldn't find anything. Has anyone wired the marker lights to the fog lights? Any reason that wouldn't work? If combined with the fog light mod wouldn't that give you control to turn them on and off?

Well... both.

I like the looks of them, but they are also road legal (in Texas) and they do add to the visibility of my vehicle on and off road. As someone that has to dodge people who cannot drive on a regular basis, I take comfort in the idea that they cannot say they didn't see me.

I am also a self-professed LEDaholic. So, my opinion can be taken with a more than 1 grain of salt.

Installed everything, looked good, plugged it in and nothing. I only have 1 10amp fuse although there is a spot for two. Got so frustrated I disassembled the whole thing.

So what you are saying is if I install the second 10amp fuse then the lights should work?

I honestly cant tell you if that's your issue or not for certain as I never attempted to ignite with only one 10amp fuse. I used two from the get go.

Im electrically challenged so if the directions say to use two, I do so. If they don't address the issue then I use what came in the packet(1). The failure made me rethink my plan and I might just money up and buy a LED light bar to fit in the same spot. Really like the look but it will be more expensive since Ill have to pay someone to install it.
