About to install B&M Transmission Cooler - will fuel hose suffice?

Or does it need to be transmission hose? I've called several different auto parts stores, and nobody has any 3/8" trans hose. I'll order some if I have to, but figured I'd ask the experts first. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if it would work or not. It seems to be the same but I don't know if the material is different or not, sorry. Advanced Auto had about 100 feet of 3/8 transmission line in stock when I did mine last week, you might give them a call if you have a store nearby.

needs to be transmission hose because of the temperature. No fuel hose.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep looking until I find the proper hose. In every case but one, the guy at the store said (without me mentioning fuel hose) that fuel hose would work just fine. :doh: That's why I bring my questions here instead.

The heat isn't even the issue. It's the oil. The fuel hose is not oil resistant, so it'll soak it up and get spongy and fail. Only use oil hose. It's more expensive, but it's because it's right for the job.

this was an exact match to the hose that came with my hayden 678. it fit perfect and worked great.

O'reillys auto parts sells Gates trans cooler hose 3/8" on their website. Most stores only sell 11/32" which in my estimation is too small for a long run of hose.

And no to fuel line. It will degrade from the ATF.
