ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement

So first mud hole of my last wheeling trip broke my driver's side wheel speed sensor. The plug is fine that goes to the connection, but the top half of the sensor snapped off. My dash lit up like a space ship! Kept on wheeling though!

Dealer wants $291 Canadian.

eBay wants ~$60 Canadian.

Anyone try an el cheapo sensor? They seem to have good reviews.

I may be putting in a new harness as well (I'm sure the wheel dropped and stretched it). I'll have to remove the clips holding the wire to give it some more room next time.

I paid $55 to replace mine. Camelback Toyota has the part and it's an easy swap. They send the entire harness. Once you install, the dash lights will go away.
 
Can you post where it broke. The connector (harness side) or sensor (wheel side)?

Seems like you are saying the sensor, but most people responding here are thinking the wire/harness since that is what typically breaks. I would get the cheapest part you can find....

Yeah I think they got in trouble for it from Toyota HQ. One of them has a site based in Manitoba or something now but the prices are nowhere near as good. The current exchange rate is gonna kill you anyhow. If you know anyone who lives in the states you could always get them to order it and reship it to you.

The sensor itself broke. The actual plastic housing snapped right off where the plug goes in. The male end of the plug was literally hanging in the air.


Update

I ended up buying a Chinese abs sensor for about $50 Cdn. Took the old sensor out and stuck the new one in. After starting the engine, the ABS light and 4wd lights instantly went out. The traction control light and downhill assist light were still blinking so I took it for a quick spin around the block. After driving for roughly 300 yards, everything was back to normal.

I then took the truck wheeling and all systems seem to check out fine.

I looked into extending the lines so this wouldn't happen again. However, there is still a lot of play in them at full down travel. I noticed some mud was caked in a grommet that may have restricted the line from sliding within. Who knows, if it happens again then I'll extend the harness.

Do you have the part# or link to where you ordered?
 
Went to replace my ABS sensor and it was broken. Now the portion that goes into the hub is stuck. Any tips on how to remove that without doing any damage?
 
this is an old thread but can anyone tell me where to locate this sensor harness on the truck?
i might be dumb.. im having issues finding it on google and youtube.
