I'm not familiar with those tents. The holes are spaced 2" apart all the way across the bars.

One of the items we're looking at designing in the future are RTT mounting aids/possible QD mounts, but we haven't gotten there yet. We're working on other items at the moment. We should be releasing more details on our current project next week.

I've been very impressed with the Smittybuilt Baja Rack. It's super rugged, well made, fairly low profile and can be bought on Amazon for less that 500$. I have had it for about 2 year and the powdercoat is still pristine with zero chipping or rust.

I’ve had mine for a fee weeks now and I’m digging it so far. I don’t store stuff on my roof that often and even then I don’t need the storage capacity of the larger racks. I also drive anywhere from 20-25k miles a year so a low profile mount that doesn’t affect my mileage is key. No appreciable increase in wind noise.

There’s threaded inserts on each bar plus slots and holes. You should be able to mount most anything up there without too much drama. Much better for Home Depot runs too.

I think you were asking me. I have the Rhino Rack deflector. The clamps are made for elliptical bars, but grab on to the round frame of the tray just fine. I put some thick foam stick on weatherstripping in the clamp to help it hold.

Are these new? They look great. Have you actually stored stuff on them? They are so lo profile is it hard to mount stuff down? Do you have to take the whole rack off just to push a bolt up through the bottom?



I'm kind in the same boat of not using a rack often. Well, I don't have one so I never use it now, but the opportunities when I've wanted one have been few as well, which makes it hard for me to justify the purchase of a full system. Most of the time I'm by myself or with one kid, and I have plenty of room inside for stuff. But once my younger kids get a little older I expect to have a full load of people and need the extra storage options.

I’ve been real busy lately so I’ve only thing I’ve put up there is a bunch of 2x4s. Wasn’t hard to strap down.

There are 6 3/8” threaded holes (2 rows of 3) on the outside edge each crossmember. These holes are where the Rago accessory racks bolt to. The center holes and slots are not threaded. Those might be tough to access while on the truck.

I like this! I see its mounted to the slots on the factory rails. Reading reviews on Amazon say mounting kits are hard to come by. Di you fab these up yourself or were lucky enough to find these and purchase with the rack?

Amazon had the mounting kits in stock, ordered with the rack. When installing I realized the mounts were a bit to low and the rack rested on the factory rail covers. The solution was to pick up some 1"x .5" poly spacers (12 of them) at ACE and install them between the rack and the mounts. That gave me about a 1/4" gap. Perfect.

There are some mounts available that allow you to remove the factory rails. Can't remember where I saw them. However, I think it looks fine on factory rails.

If theirs are anything like ours, aluminum doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Our Ruggedized Crossbars weigh about 5 pounds each, so they're already pretty light weight. Hard to justify the cost increase to aluminum when you don't save that much weight.

True, I was also thinking about rust and not just the weight.

I have the same rack, and I have been very happy with it. I am looking into switching my OEM crossbars for @apexoverland LFD bars...

[MENTION=73851]007Tacoma[/MENTION] did you ever switch your bars? I am looking at the exact same set up but I am concerned about the U-bolt mountings sliding on the slick looking steel LFD bars.

Thoughts?
