Anyone know what the fan below the glove box does (in front of the knee airbag)?

Mine rattles like a banshee (SP?) - dealer can't fix it either - and I am thinking about putting some sound blocking material in that general area to hide the noise. But want to be careful of not creating too much heat in there if the fan needs venting...
Thoughts?

I'm guessing its the main hvac fan.

Take it back to the dealer if it's doing it so bad where you cant stand it. I'm also assuming it's under warranty.

Yeah it's the ac, Tacoma's have the same problem. Alot of guys fix it by adjusting/securing the wires under there. That's what's rattling, all the loose wires.

Interesting, thanks all. Yeah, I've seen the loose wires. I have had mine to the dealership already and they weren't able to repair it. They had my vehicle for SIX days and returned it to me with the same rattle. Lame.

I don't think mine is the wires though... when the vehicle is in gear, if you push up on the white ducting underneath, the rattle goes away. But not sure how to keep that happening... maybe a metal band across the bottom... but what would I anchor the two sides of the band into?

Ugh.
