Back Window Up Hack with Factory Key Fob

12 volt tap

FYI, someone asked where I tapped +12-volts; I tapped the B8 connector (blue in the picture). I forget which pin; just use a voltmeter and you can figure it out. It's a solid core wire pushed into the back of the connector; the end is covered in RTV right up to the connector so that no bare wire is exposed.

Updated Relay wiring

I had my relay connections between the ECU and the TR7 setup wrong. Here's a corrected relay layout.

Dpodo suggested powering the TR7 RED wire from #8 on blue connector, see my earlier ECU layout. thanks!

Still working on programming the TR7. Almost done !

Started on this mod and hit two snags-

1) I don't think I have an LED on my TR7 trigger. Really hard to program it without it. PAC said TR7's LED is internal next to the TR7 emblem, but I didn't see it. Need to check again. Anyone have a picture of the LED?

2) The waterproof barrier - How did you all remove it? Is it possible to carefully remove it and reapply it after finishing the mod or just cut it and tape it back up afterwards?

Thanks.

Got the trigger programmed, had to use alligator clips to make the connections.

However, when looking over things, I unplugged the B9 connector to find the wires. After reconnecting it, none of the mod in place yet, none of the back door functions worked.

Now, after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the keylock will lock/unlock the doors and the hatch button works, but neither the keylock nor the fob will roll the window down or up. The car beeps from the fob, but no window movement. The dash button does work though.

Anyone have any insight or help on this issue? Thanks.

The first thing I would try is resetting the back door ecu. Here are the instructions from another thread:

To reset the rear window operation:
1. Turn ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Push the back door power window switch to the “DOWN” side to open the window until it opens fully.
3. Push and hold the back door power window switch to the “UP” side until the window closes. Continue holding it for a several seconds second.
4. Check for proper operation of the “one-touch open/close” functions by
pushing the switch briefly to the “DOWN” and “UP” position.

I had to reset my ECU a couple of times when it got hosed up from tinkering. I believe you can hear the relays click when it resets after you press and hold the up button.

&%#! I knew that! Similar to if you unplug the battery. On my way to work on Friday, my tire finally blew and since the door wouldn't open, had to tow it to the dealership. Ugh!

I'll try again this week to wire everything up. Did look through the wiring diagram and find that B8-5 wire (Blue-Red) is always-on 12V supply, not B9.

How did you remove the moisture barrier?

Moisture barrier

Sige,

1. Barrier just peels away. I've got this sticky putty that enables me to peel then unpeel to get the barrier on and off. works well on my 2008
2. I'm using the b8 but doesnt work well for power, have to try the b9.

Internal switch

Has anyone found a way to open the rear hatch from inside the car, not just unlock it?

Mojav stated in Post #40 that he added a momentary switch between Pins #22 and #10 on B9. You can also see that in the wiring schematic I posted above. I've seen pictures from a few people on this forum that also added a button.

Mojav, where did you mount the button?

Haven't had a chance to work on it yet. Waiting for some vacation days off to peel the panel back. If this is related to #47

Fantastic write up! Since you seem to be very knowledgeable on the topic, have you ever seen a key fob for the trail with a fourth button? My 2010 has 3, then a blank spot that just looks inviting to have another button. Just wondering if there is a 4 button fob out there that would work, and that the extra button could be programmed say to turn on some rigid led's mounted to a roof rack. Just curious. Thanks.

I'm seriously thinking about doing this. Compared to the map light mod, fog light mod, and the rear diff breather, how hard is this?

4Boer,

Its not too hard to do, but the Timer is a biatch to get right, I'm getting back to this near the end of this month when I have some time to finalize my wiring.

As for the mag switch, see the diagram below and other ones from my earlier posts. good luck. drop me a line about your progress. This diagram was from my last work on this in late June...

Ok, so I found out the hard way that the DARK wire at B9-6 is power supply. My problem is that none pf the accesories like map lights, locks, or the rear hatch work unless the ignition is in the "on" position. I used the multimeter on the big blue wire (B9-4) and blue and red (B9-5). Sparks occurred. Did I short something out or blow a fuse? Any help?

Edit: I have no idea which wire is power supply.
