Where did you get the silent armors? I can't seem to find them anywhere around. Most people don't even know what they are, including one goodyear store.

I went with REVO 2s in the stock "P" size. I'm very happy with them.
I went with the "P" because they have much lower unsprung weight that the LTs. You get the same great tread design, which is great in the rain and for light off road driving. Plus, you retain most of the fuel efficiency.
I have 12k on these tires now and they look brand new.

I bought my Silent Armors from Discount Tire Direct a couple months ago. I couldn't find them locally in the size I wanted. They shipped the tires for free and there was an $80.00 rebate from Goodyear. I still had to pay a hundred to have them mounted and balanced. They may be difficult to find in the same size. Maybe they are discontinuing the size I chose.

Bought the S/A's from Discount Tire Direct for around $135-$140 each before the rebate ($80.00 on set of four).

I see u had the revos so why would u go with the Michelins? Pros cons?

i'd be interested in hearing this answer too.
also wondering where you guys are offloading your old tires? i have the stock 265/70/17r dunlop at20 grandtreks. if i knew for sure i could get a fair trade or a few bucks for them i'd pull the trigger on new all terrain tires in a second.

I bought my Silent Armors from Discount Tire awhile back. Got 5 275/70x17 load range C. Great tires. The 275 just squeezed into the spare tire area. I had about 30K on the stock Mich Cross Terrains and Discount Tire gave me about $30. ea for them. They were still expensive though.
ETA: Forgot this was the 5th Gen section. I've read that 285s will fit easily in the spare tire area.

Winter is FINALLY over up here in Edmonton, and need to find a set of good All season tires (the Dunlops are ready to be chucked).
Looks like REVOs get good reviews for spring/summer/fall driving? (I have X-Ice for Winter conditions).
Are they white lettered?

bump! Any other discussion in this area? How would p rated tires hold up for beach driving, especially a week at the outerbanks? Most of the time Ill be on the pavement.......Everyone says LT is steefier but not sure what that means without driving a 4 runner with them.....how much steefier especially with 5100's in the front added. THinking I should stick with P and the 5100s for the best ride and handle my beach driving that I might do once a year.
Any input? Too much researching...lol Need to pull the trigger towards the end of may.

Unless the beach is littered with spikes and land mines, technically they'll hold up better.
Point is, you don't have to worry about them not holding up on the beach.

I just purchased a 2010 TE for my wife. It will be mainly just a daily driver to get her back and forth to work each day, but it will also be used for any and all highway trips. We travel over 1,000+ miles from Texas to Florida at least 2 to 3 times each year, so noise and comfort IS an issue to us. I was looking at the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac's (LT265/70R17 E), but I see from Tire Rack that they were a little noisey, otherwise perfect AT tire. I am also looking at the Firestone Destination A/T (LT265/70R17) and the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2's. I see the Bridgestone's were rated #10 and the Firestone was #1 in its category. Does this matter to me for what I am searching for? I am fairly dumb with regards to all the badass features that her 4Runner TE can do with all the crazy 4WD and Crawl features, :help: and thats why I want an AT type tire. I want to be able to really experiment and get those tires a little dirty if you feel what I mean. Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks gents!

I consulted many threads here, internet reviews, tirerack.com, and a helpful Discount Tire salesman before deciding to buy Michelin LTX AT2's P265/70/17 for my stock SR5 this past weekend. The tire choice was not as hard for me as the load range, as i've always had good luck with Michelin'e and mixed results with other manufacturers (though the Duratrac is sure tempting).
I went back and forth on P versus LT. I don't tow or rock crawl, but do off-road to get to trailheads and photography destinations across the four corners region. Some of the off-roading in Colorado is over sharp, loose scree rock. So I thought long and hard about going LT for the beefier sidewalls. But 90% of the expedition is on paved roads, where quiet, solid, efficient driving is important. In the end, I could not justify the potential hit to MPG, so I went P. I made a Subaru with P tires work on these trails for years before the 4Runner with only one minor puncture, so I'll try to make it work on the 4Runner. I did buy the higher end road hazard warranty as insurance, I'm going to get the ARB tire repair kit, and have AAA. Still a little uncertain about my choice, but time to get out there and test them (while I can still exchange them if necessary).

Nitto crosstek.... They are an amazing ride on the highway, they have a nice agresive looking sidewall and it has a off road capable tread design so if you need to hit some mild trails you can! I will buy these tires time and time again!!
Be careful with michelin, they are #1 for premature dry-rot and as you approach the 5-4 32nd's they get loud. For the extremely high cost i don't think they are worth it, at all. (imo)

A trail for wifey's daily driver / road tripper??? BLASPHEMER!!! How dast thou take one of the few trails out of the gulf states and sentence it to mom mobile.
That said, discount tire has cooper discoverer atp's. great tire with a great price, warranty, and tread. Check em out

I do not know where you located the facts about premature Dry Rot on Michelin LTX the tires. I previously lived in the hot Sacramento Valley, in CA. I ran the Michelin tires there for numerous years and they held up fine. I have had them on previous Toyota vehicles and have had the Michelin tires of different styles on Three Lexus vehicles, 2 LS 460's and 1 SC 400. I would not own any tire but them. Been using them for over 35 years and never one problem and they get tremendous mileage.
