Black Chroming my bumpers today.

I caved and bought Duplicolors Shadow black chroming kit. I spent a total of $40 on the kit, mask, gloves and surface prep. If they turn out good, SWEET!!! If not I'll be at the junk yards looking for new bumpers. I'll post pics later today.

I've never seen it on bumpers but as of right now with the third coat and no clear, it looks great. The pics I've been taking aren't turning out as good as I had hoped, I'll post them around 5pm.

cool man, im looking forward to seeing those pics! I'm curious about this kit, did it come with a primer or an adhesion promoter? Im assuming its almost like a clear black paint? Oh the suspense!:hungry:

Edit: just checked this stuff out! i wish i would have known about it before i did my emblems in my own black chrome. dahhh!

It only comes with the translucent paint and a clear to protect from bad stuff. Under $20 though.

wow that does look good! you have some rattle can skills too, i don't see any runoff at all plus you did it all without taking the bumper off. very cool! When its all dry snap some pics outside, it should help a little with the bluryness.

Look at this tail light smoke job, looks good, I think that my LED tail lights might look pretty sweet this way:

Can't find much for examples and I am not going to destroy my tail lights trying it out.. though. I'd like to see it in person and definitely way more pics!

Grille is going to be done. The fender flares are going all black. I saw the bumpers in the sunlight just now and they look blue. Not sure about it. It's cold hear and the package said paint in a temp of 60-95. My garage was around 65 but I had the door open a lil bit for ventilation. :wtf:

Stlfan those bumpers look great, i bet opening the door is what made the bumpers blue. Or maybe you need to add some more coats?

COB i got black leds and I tinted them a while ago..let me see if I can find the thread..

1fast e: Make sure you do it in a well lit and warm area. I think mine needs more coats but I already cleared them. I put in question to Duplicolor, so I'll wait to see what they say to do about it. I'll everyone informed.
