Blizzard Pearl Limited TE Conversion - MKE

Drooled I have for a White Toyota. First it was the WhiteISH FJ back in 2010.

Then the dealer talked me into a Black TE 4Runner.

Loved it. Three years later, I got word that the Back 2010 was worth a pretty penny to Toyota.

Trade it in for a White 2013 Limited and apply the much desired TE Conversion I am doing. Of course it always helps when your Bro, Clay, at Wilde Toyota is as stoked for the project as you.

Not to mention, this beautiful forum has all the eye candy and info anyone could ask for. More specifically > harper7, Hbryanlopez, jangoforhire and 1traildriver. These peeps have so much info. So much that I am missing things. I forgot to include the fog surrounds in my blackout list. I ASSumed that they were part of the TE bumper and would arrive black. Not so.

Now I can't call this much of a "Build Thread" since I am not doing any of the mods. However, I can call this a DocuThread because I will be documenting as much as I can regarding our family's new rig.

Here is a phone pic of the progress I recieved from Clay today. It looks like they have already installed the Low Range 3" Lift/Level...

Hopefully I get more updates from Clay, as I simply can't take the wait.

The bumper will still get paint. My guess is that the dealer will complete the part swap and then send it to painter.

Your going to love the outcome.. My purpose was to gain more ground clearance all around, not by much but you do gain some ground clearance and would make a lift more worth it. Though, I am IN LOVE with the outcome of my conversion.. Your going to be happy too.. Are you replacing your fog light covers or plasti-dip?

I just sent Clay (Toyota bud hooking me up) a FB message asking if they could squeeze the fog light covers in to the Blackout list for the painter. Hoping they can since they will have the bumper off anyways for its own paint.

I have not heard back yet. Fingers crossed.

If not, I am not sure what I will do.

I already am leaving the front and back wings/logos chrome... I don't know what to do about the back. I hope to replace the front with the FJ grill logo.

My problem is, I am not a DIYer... Yet, I worry anything unfinished as I leave dealer may remain unfinished.

For me it started it as functionality more than looks, but looks freaking insane

Wife got in a fender bender and shortly after the truck was stolen and further damage. I figured If I have to shell out 1000 for a deductible, why not spend more and do the conversion. Little did I know it was A LOT more and not little more.

Back to if it's worth it, I feel like I gained about 3" on the sides and the back bumper, the limited ans SR rear bumper sags a bit and the front bumper has extra molding on the bottom. I noticed it one of the runs I did with some of the other members on here, a stock trail cleared a number of rocks and mine was about to scrape. So that alone I think is worth it.

Black out items include roof rails, door handles an fog surrounds.

I plan on leaving the back 4Runner logo chrome and replacing the front Toyota logo with a Land Cruiser emblem.

Did they have any issues with the alignment, or rubbing??

I just ordered the same lift, and I'm wondering what problems I might run into...:noidea: Or if i should order the LR UCA's beforehand.

Yes Wilde is doing everything before I sign papers. If they have any problems, they have not told me yet.

I printed out harper's frond fender mod and gave it to their parts guru, Dave. I also mentioned that they could reduce potential rubbing with the alignment as well. He seemed pretty confident in his shop guys, referencing past mods to FJ's and Tacoma's, even though this will be their first 4Runner (and possibly their last). As for UCA's... There has been no talk of those.

I say "possible last" for the fact that this build is taking them probably 3 times the shop time I was actually quoted. No issue to me though. I have no problem waiting - 3 week Spring Break

Latest Update:

The fog surrounds have been thrown into the black-out list.

We are currently waiting on painted parts to show from painter. There was a slight delay with paint I was told.

Truck will most likely be complete sometime early next week.

I am still up in the air on the Trident Protection System (paint and interior). It has been calculated in payments already which I am ok with.

I was tossing the idea of nerf bars with steps instead of trident.

It seems either item carries maybe a false perk. Trident: "Protection". Nerf: "function".
