thanks Doozi
I was wondering why you chose to ground the mount isn't it grounded by the metal you used to reinforce it?
just wondering
Not sufficiently... the bracket is against a painted surface, but I also have a new theory brewing.
I'm wondering if grounding to the body versus the frame would be better for an antenna application. Seeing that the metal surfaces of the body act as part of the antenna and the body is pretty much isolated from the frame, grounding directly to the frame may not be the most appropriate point in this application. Just a theory, but I'm going to give it a try.
Yes, it is attached in many places, but there also rubber isolators so I'm not sure how "clean" the path would be. It's just a theory that I'm going to test with the hopes that going directly to the body will be more antenna-friendly. I guess if my SWR levels change while retesting in the same spot, I'll know that something was affected and can try tuning from that point.
don't know if I went to big
it's more than a foot above the roof line lol
will this be a problem on the trail :thanks:

Just had it tuned it was at 0 swr from 1-40

He probably has a 1:1 SWR or zero movement on the meter... he's got quite an antenna on there!. Excellent TX and RX, too.
I might have missed something here but who makes and where can I get the hatch mount that zimm and a few others in this thread are using??
