Chilton Manual vs. Haynes Manual

I know you didn't include it in the choices, but I swear by the genuine OEM Toyota service manuals. They are the best books availible in my opinion. I also have used Motors brand profesional service trade edition manuals and liked them much better than Chilton or Haynes.

I've used Max Ellery's manuals. I like them better than Haynes, but there are too few pictures for my taste.
I like to see EVERYTHING in exploded view.

But that's just me.
(I assume you are talkin' 'bout repair manuals...)

I've used both Chilton's and Haynes, and I can't say I prefer one over the other. Normally, if they are available, I'll get both -- they aren't exactly the same, and sometimes one is better on the area I need to work on.

If only those two choices, Chiltons.

Haynes always has too many errors, and for something that has been in print since 1989, that is supposed to cover, in our case through 1995, should be completely error free, with cross references for model year changes. I have a Haynes a customer threw in our recycle bin, that showed the wrong point to connect to for home diagnostics, and it fried the CPU.

If no other choices, absolutely a FSM is the best choice.

They are both good for general info, but for the technical stuff, go with the Toyota service manuals!
